GREAT for Family! - Samwell delivered an exceptional Maasai Mara safari experience, showcasing deep animal knowledge and unwavering dedication to finding the Big Five. His considerate nature, coupled with his excellent English and engaging personality, made the entire journey truly memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend Samwell for an unforgettable safari adventure.

Family Safari - We had an awesome time on this 3-day trip. All the accommodations etc. were just like it stated and the experience was excellent. Our tour guide was helpful and assisted my party throughout our journey. We were able to see the BIG 4 instead of BIG 5. We were unable to see the Rhino but we seen all the others and what an experience. Not to mention observing the Great Migration.

An unforgettable adventure - The safari exceeded my expectations. The Masai Mara Nature Reserve is a beautiful park where you can meet all the inhabitants of the savannah, zebras, gazelles, wildebeest, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs and of course the lions we saw up close. The camp in which we stayed, in its simplicity, guarantees an authentic experience in the company of the Maasai with whom we shared a chat around the fire in the evening. Our guide George was very good at both driving and describing in detail the Kenyan animals and culture.

For the best memories. - For $200, the tents are clean, and you can use electric hot water showers. The game drive was all day on the first evening and the second day with an additional tour of the Maasai village We had five hours of proper rest along the way. The game drive is a great way for the guide to capture a series of animals. It was great to see you.

3 day Safari - The safari was great. We saw a lot for the short amount of time. The only reason I rated it 4/5 is because it’s really more of a 1 day safari. I wish I had booked 4 days the travel time is 6 hours there and 6 hours back which it does say on the itinerary. I think I just didn’t look close enough. My accommodations were great and some of the best sleep I had while away.

Meh. - Lodging: we opted for the budget lodging; our camp was Mara Enkajiang. The tents have toilets and showers inside. The tent was large and clean. The beds were comfortable. The staff at the camp were amazing! Gilbert was the best! He was kind, hospitable, and a delight to be around. Thomas was also another staff member that should be highlighted. The food was so delicious and they pay so much attention to detail when plating. The camp was a highlight. The Driver/Guide: I’m not sure if I’m spelling his name correctly, Cosco, could use a bit more training. He is great at finding the animals and getting you to a good spot to see and capture photos. I would refer to him more as a driver, than a guide. He was on his phone for much of the drive, everyday, instead of engaging with passengers, literally, call after call. We were not provided with the water that was to be included, on the last day, one in our group just happened to find half a pack of bottled waters in the back of the truck and handed them out to us because we were so thirsty. On the last day, we thought the last stop was another pit stop to use the restroom and buy souvenirs. It was not told to us that this was our lunch stop which is self served, but because this was not clearly told to us we bought snacks. Once back in the vehicle, 2 in the group told us the meal was included and we were to eat there, but it was now too late. 5 of 7 in the group did not eat; we did not have our included lunch. Communication is severely lacking, and the driver was not in the best of moods most of the tour. Safari: we opted for the vehicle upgrade to br a land cruiser. Be prepared for a very bumpy ride, as the roads getting to the park are filled with pot holes, so just prepare, bring your meds! It was amazing to see so much wildlife. We were able to see 4 of the big 5. We did not see the rhino, but were happy to see so much wildlife. All said, the camp and camp staff saved this review from being lower.

Safari great, Accommodation Mist - The pickup worked without any problems. Our accommodation was the Giraffe Hills Mara Camp and unfortunately not pleasant at all. The lady who organizes or runs this was super arrogant, the food was more than meagre and we always had to ask for water 10x, although that was included in the meal. They even made a lock on the fridge so that you don't take water and in the end they even wanted to charge us, more than we drank and although that was just included in the total price! Didn't pay for that, of course!! Absolutely bad service! We didn't have a towel for our hands in the bathroom and when we asked for it, we were told they were putting it in. When we came back from the safari there was no towel but our things were scattered on the ground and one side of the tent was open, although it was raining and the things got wet... served us a nice young man who had to do everything there and was always sent forward, he was the only one who got tipped afterwards. The safari was with Castro and really good, he went out of his way that we had the best experience and seeing all the animals was very good!! The only thing we didn't like about him was that we didn't even get water here on the 6 hour outbound journey and on the way back we were just let out somewhere and put in a taxi. That was kind of not so nice as our hotel wasn't far away and it seemed like he didn't want to go and just kicks everybody out of the car. So in summary the safari was great, the service and organization and especially the accommodation but not recommended. Others had booked directly through the provider and as a result better services, we would recommend this to all.

Amazing Safari but Poorly Organized - The safari was amazing, and during the game drives we saw nearly all of the wildlife that Masai Mara has to offer. However, the organization of this trip was very disappointing. On the first day, my pickup from the airport was 45 minutes late, and then at the meeting point most of us had to wait for over an hour before we left. The driver forgot to pick up guests from one of the lodges on the second day and we had to go back for them. On the third day, I got picked up from my hotel at 7am and was not dropped off at my hotel in Nairobi until 6:30pm. Given that the drive from Masai Mara to Nairobi is only 5-6 hours, this felt like a ridiculous amount of time to spent waiting for the driver or in the car. Masai Mara is amazing and I would definitely recommend going, I would just seek out a more organized tour operator.

Personal advice to avoid. - To a Perfect Safari Africa, My friend Tom and I (Faisal) have just completed a three-day (two night) safari trip with Perfect Safari Africa. We booked the trip via the platform Viator and went for the “3 Days Maasai Mara Guided Safari from Nairobi” option, which cost us £1,065.08. Even though experiencing the incredible animals of the Maasai Mara was a once in a lifetime experience, the ‘tour guide’ part of this trip did not meet our expectactions as paying customers. Here are the reasons why: Our guide (Castro), was rude, uncommunicative and did not deliver on all the services we had paid for in our total package. 1. Not once did Castro gave us a full run down of the three-day tour that we had purchased. We were often left guessing as to when the next toilette stop was, when lunch was planned or even what each day consisted of. Every time something was left unclear (which was most of the time), a member of the tour group itself was forced to ask him for these basic details, which he would then begrudgingly communicate. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere where members of the tour group felt awkward having to ask their actual trour leader for essential information. 2. Castro was either unable or unwilling to create any sort of positive group dynamic or vibe that would have been enjoyable for the tour group. For example, he spent most of the six-hour journey from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara on the phone, decided not to eat lunch with the group on our full day in the game reserve (compared to other groups all around us) and never even made an effort to greet us in the morning when we met for the pick up. Not onto that, he didn’t even both to learn all of our names (a total of seven people), which meant we simply clicked his fingers at us when he wanted our attention or wanted us to do a task, like gather all of the group after lunch (a task which he himself should be doing - not instructing a paying customer to do for him). This left us all with a feeling of merely being tolerated by him and definitely detracted from the whole experience. 3. Finally, on arriving back to Nairobi after our Safari tour, Castro dropped us off at the Nairobi Market. We told him that we had purchased the option to be dropped back off at our hotel, which we had in our booking confirmation email. When we told him about this, he dismissively said “the pick up is only one way!”. This lack of interest in his guests well being, as well as not delivering on the service that had been purchased, perfectly illustrated Castro’s complete indifference to the tour group and his refusal to provide the service that had been purchased. All in all, Castro is the worst tour guide I have ever experienced. His actions mean that we will never again book anything with Perfect Safari Africa or recommend this company to any of our family, relatives or friends. Please choose a different provider when you are looking to have the experience of a lifetime in the Maasai Mara.
