Borgarfjörður fjord and its waterfalls
Reykholt - Start your day with a cultural touch by visiting Reykholt near Borgarfjörður. This historical site from medieval times is home to Icelandic Sagas.
Deildartunguhver - Stop at Deildartunguhver, Europe’s largest hot spring located in Reykjadalur, or the “valley of smoke.” From a safe distance, observe massive bubbles forming in the 97°C water and feel the heat on your face.
Budakirkja - Continue exploring the south coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula with a short stop at Búdir church, one of Iceland’s three black churches, making it a sought-after spot for photographers. Nearby, you might spot seals in the sea.
Arnarstapi - Arnarstapi is worth a brief stop as the area is renowned for its beauty. The beach is fascinating due to erosion carving an arch in the stone, known as Gatklettur, or “hole in the cliff.”
Vatnshellir Cave - At 3 PM, explore an 8,000-year-old lava tube located 32 meters underground! This remarkable lava formation features robust flows creating an anti-chamber accessible by spiral stairs. Equipped with a helmet and headlight, descend deep beneath the surface.
Kirkjufellsfoss - The next waterfall, Kirkjufellsfoss, is among Iceland’s most visited and photographed, along with the famous mountain Kirkjufell. Formed 5 to 10 million years ago, its multi-layered tip offers a unique and majestic appearance.

The first stop is Stykkishólmur, a charming fishing village known for fresh fish dishes. Visit Sugandisey island and its lighthouse before moving on. The harbor connects with the island by road, and you can walk up the mount for a spectacular view.
If interested, visit the Icelandic Seal Center (Selasetur Íslands) to see exhibitions, learn about seal biology, and track seals live by GPS. It’s a great quick stop for the whole family. 1238 The Battle of Iceland - Experience Iceland’s history differently! At 3.00 pm, visit The Battle of Iceland museum, where exhibitions are experienced through virtual reality.
Grafarkirkja - Grafarkirkja is Iceland’s oldest turf church, a photogenic site with a magical atmosphere worth experiencing. Note that entrance to the church is not possible.
If interested, visit the Hofsós swimming pool, one of Iceland’s most popular and photographed sites. It’s a perfect place to swim and relax with a great view of the fjord. Enjoy Icelandic nature in its simplicity and tranquility. Note that this is only a recommendation, and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. If you choose to visit, it will take 2 hours and 10 minutes, including driving time from Grafarkirkja.
Akureyri and The Beer SPA
Dalvik - Start your day by visiting Dalvík, a village on the Tröllaskagi peninsula. Dalvík is an excellent place for whale watching with great ocean access. Visit the local grocery store for food and beverages for the following days and continue your journey.
If interested, visit Hrísey Island, Iceland’s second-largest island, by driving to Árskógssandur to take the ferry. The island is known for bird watching, with about 40 species of bird nests. Walk along one of three paths, and with luck, see many bird species! Note that this is only a recommendation, and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. Check the ferry’s schedule on Hrísey’s website. If you choose to visit, it will take 3 hours, including driving time from Dalvík and the ferry tour.
Akureyri - Your last visit of the day is Akureyri, the capital of the north! Akureyri offers much, with its lovely church perched on top of the town. Stop at the botanical garden and swimming pool, where outdoor slides add excitement. A 10-minute drive from the center takes you to the charming Christmas house, open year-round.
Akureyri and Lake Mývatn
Godafoss - On your way to Lake Mývatn, visit Godafoss waterfall, or the waterfall of the gods. Legend has it that in the year 1,000, Þorgeir, who made Christianity official in Iceland, threw statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall. The chute is an impressive 12 meters high and 30 meters wide.
Dimmuborgir Lava Formations - The day wouldn’t be complete without visiting Dimmuborgir, a large lava field where caves and arches formed during a powerful eruption 2,300 years ago. Take time to explore the park dedicated to these lava formations.
Skútustaðagígar - The next stop is Skútustadagígar pseudo craters, perfect for walking around an interesting geological formation and bird watching.
Myvatn Nature Baths (Jardbodin vid Myvatn) - End the day in the warm waters of Mývatn’s Nature Baths (7.00 PM). Enjoy the sauna, steam room, warm waterfall, and panoramic lake view from the open-air bath.

Dettifoss - The itinerary takes you around the Tjornes peninsula in northern Iceland, with Dettifoss waterfall as your first stop. The waterfall is an impressive 100 meters wide and 45 meters high chute, where you can feel the ground tremble.
Vök Baths and Egilsstaðir
Rjukandi Waterfall - The next stop is Rjúkandi waterfall, just outside Egilsstaðir. The landscape until Mývatn is somewhat lunar-like, with surprising sites along the way!
East Coast and Seydisfjordur Fjord
Studlagil canyon - Studlagil Canyon is a popular site on the East coast. The stunning basalt rock columns and blue water river make it a must-see in Iceland. Admire the canyon from the viewing platform or go down to the gorge!
Seydisfjordur - Seydisfjördur is considered the most beautiful east fjord in the country! Nestled between Mt. Bjólfur and Strandartindur, the village of 700 inhabitants is a landmark with its colorful houses and Rainbow Road. Seydisfjördur hosts the annual Lunga Arts festival in mid-July, attracting locals and tourists alike.
Eastern Iceland
Hallormsstadur - Hallormsstaður is Iceland’s largest forest, home to many tree varieties and wild reindeer! In early spring, you might encounter some while walking along the forest paths.
Diamond Beach and Vatnajokull glacier hike
Diamond Beach - Prepare for an otherworldly experience today! Diamond Beach is a stunning black beach where thousands of ice blocks from the glacier lie around. They come in various sizes and shapes, glittering in the sunlight like diamonds!
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Boat Tours and Cafe - At 10.30 am, enjoy a unique amphibian boat tour, sailing among the stunning icebergs of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. During this 35-minute trip, taste 1,000-year-old ice and learn about geology and lagoon facts from an English-speaking guide. Don’t forget your camera! You might capture a selfie with seals against the picturesque glacier backdrop.
Tröll Expeditions Skaftafell - Get ready for a hiking adventure today! At 2.00 pm, start the Skaftafell glacier hike and walk on top of the Falljökull outlet, part of the Vatnajökull glacier.
Skaftafell National Park - Take time to visit Skaftafell National Park with its many walking paths. One leads to the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall, or black waterfall, due to the dark basalt column formation around it. Note that park admission is free, but a parking fee is not included in the tour price.
South Coast and Black Beach
Systrafoss - Start your day by driving to Kirkjubæjarklaustur to visit Systrafoss waterfall, a chute from lake Systravatn on top of the mount. A short hike to the top offers a spectacular view of the area. You might also drive 5 minutes further to see Stjórnarfoss waterfall, another picturesque chute.
Vik - Vík in Mýrdal is a charming village on the south coast by the seashore, nestled between the Mýrdasjokull glacier, Jokulsá and Blautavísl rivers, and the long stretch of black beach.
Reynisfjara Beach - Next, visit Reynisfjara beach and its renowned cliff Reynisfjall. The basalt columns of the cliff wall create a unique atmosphere. Sit on some and gaze at the three basalt rock formations standing proudly out of the Atlantic Sea. Rumor has it they are the remains of trolls caught by daylight.
Dyrholaey - Dyrhólaey, or Doorhill Island, was once an island thousands of years ago. The promenade is a 120-meter rock formation with a hole in the middle where ships once sailed through. Today, Dyrhólaey is a popular site in Iceland, home to many bird species.
Lava Show - At 1.30 pm, attend the Icelandic Lava Show to safely witness real running hot lava flowing from a simulated volcanic eruption.

Horse riding and Reykjadalur Hot River
Skogafoss - Many beautiful waterfalls are on today’s agenda! The first is the impressive Skógafoss waterfall, fed by melting waters from Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull glaciers. This powerful chute offers a unique experience with loud sounds, water spray, and rainbows as light reflects on the droplets. Be ready to be amazed!
Seljalandsfoss - Another waterfall to see today is Seljalandsfoss, a 60-meter high waterfall you can walk behind. It’s a picturesque site, widely photographed and featured. Note that entrance to the waterfall area is free, but a parking fee is not included in the tour price.
Gljufrabui Waterfalls - Gljufrabui Waterfall is a 40-meter high waterfall hidden by rock formations. Wear waterproof shoes and a jacket!
Hótel Eldhestar - Rise and shine! It’s time to make new friends with Icelandic horses at Eldhestar. The horse riding “TOUR 2A - The Heritage Tour” (at 2.00 pm) is perfect for all riders to get acquainted with these beautiful creatures in the countryside.
Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River - Later, hike to the beautiful thermal river Hveragerdi. After a 45-minute walk in the mountains (one way), arrive at this otherworldly site and go straight into the warm river of Reykjadalur, or steam valley! Don’t forget your swimwear!
Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon
Thingvellir National Park - Start exploring the Golden Circle route with a visit to Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is a geological marvel where Oxara waterfall and Silfra Fissure were born from the continental drift splitting the earth’s crust. It’s also an important historical and political site, a UNESCO World Heritage. Note that park entrance is free, but a parking fee is not included in the tour price.
Gullfoss Waterfall - Gullfoss waterfall is an impressive 32-meter high chute, falling dramatically into a deep crevasse and covering the surroundings with water spray. Rainbows are common when droplets catch the sunlight.
Geysir - Next, visit Geysir, where the geyser Strokkur shoots a warm water column up to 15 meters in the air. The geothermal area also has fumaroles, mud pots, and openings where boiling water emerges from the earth’s crust.
If interested, visit Fridheimar Restaurant and Farm, known for horse breeding, horse show activities, and a tomato farm. It’s entirely run with geothermal energy and uses biological pest control products. Fridheimar is open for visits and has a restaurant offering tomato specialties. Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin - Experience a geothermal bath at the beautiful and secluded Secret Lagoon at 4.00 pm. Built in 1891 near the geyser Litli Geysir, it provides warm waters and a show with spouting activities every few minutes, delighting visitors.
Kerid Crater - Visit Kerið volcanic crater, approximately 3,000 years old, covered with vivid colors in summer. The crater is lovely in its winter coat, especially when its inner lake catches sunlight on frosty days. Note that a small admission fee is required to walk up and visit the crater lake, similar to a parking fee, which is not included in the tour price.
Departure Day
Sun Voyager - Depending on your flight departure time, you might like to explore the capital further and see the Sun Voyager, a famous sculpture by the sea representing freedom and hope, Hallgrímskirkja church, inspired by Icelandic basalt columns, or Perlan, a museum and restaurant atop four water tanks. After some time in Reykjavík, head to CampEasy’s office to return your camper.

Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre - Harpa, the music and conference hall, is inspired by Icelandic nature. Note that visiting Harpa is free, but a small parking fee is not included in the tour price.
Hallgrimskirkja - Hallgrimskirkja church is close to downtown Reykjavik and the famous Rainbow Street. For a 360° panoramic view of the city, go to the top of the church. Perlan - If you have time before your flight, visit Perlan, a museum atop four water reservoir tanks serving Reykjavík. Participate in the Aurora Show, revealing secrets about the northern lights.
