The journey begins with a brief drive to a village pond, where Lesser Whistling-Ducks, Egrets, Herons, Moorhens, and other birds can be observed. The journey begins with a brief drive to a village pond, where Lesser Whistling-Ducks, Egrets, Herons, Moorhens, and other birds can be observed. Along the route, there is a stop at a paddy field to view Lapwings, Kingfishers, Sparrows, and Bitterns. The adventure continues to Langkawi’s highest peak, offering the opportunity to see Great Hornbills, Wreathed Hornbills, and various rainforest birds, with the Great Hornbill being the largest bird in Langkawi. The day concludes with a return to the hotel.

- Recommended Attire: Long sleeve shirts, Long pants, walking shoes, hat, and good sun protection, keep to earth colors like green brown or black and avoid bright colors like red, yellow, and white.

Spectacular sustainable birdwatching - My son and I joined a birdwatching tour guided by Jien and Din. It was nothing short of spectacular — a perfect blend of breathtaking natural beauty and expert guidance. From the very first moment, it was clear that Jien and Din were not only highly skilled but deeply passionate about ornithology and their environmental stewardship. Their ability to identify birds by both sight and sound, even from incredible distances, was truly impressive.
What made our experience even more remarkable was how they shared their knowledge — with enthusiasm, patience, and genuine joy. Whether pointing out the sound of the rare brown winged kingfisher deep in the canopy, or explaining subtle differences in flight patterns of different birds, they made every moment of our 4 hour birdwatching educational and exciting.
Thanks to their keen eyes and deep local knowledge, we spotted 39 species across three different sites - river, Guning Raya and the wetlands, including at least a dozen Great Horned and Pied Hornbills. Their passion was infectious, turning casual interest into lasting fascination for all of us.
Highly recommended for anyone from beginners to seasoned birders who care about the environment and wildlife conservation — this tour is an unforgettable journey into the world of birds, guided by two of the very best in Langkawi.

Bird watching in Langkawi - We had a wonderful tour with Jien, he took the time we needed to explain the different types of birds we could see
We went to see river birds, wetland birds and mountain birds, and appreciated that Jien and our driver were patient and knowledgable

Great birding trip in Langkawi! - We had Jien and driver 'Bad' as our guides and they were great! We saw all 3 hornbill species and got great photos! They asked us beforehand which birds we hoped to see and had already seen during our trip to Malaysia. They really made the effort to make our trip worth while. We also received a checklist which they filled in during the trip.
We saw 3 different areas and had a wonderful time!

Amazing nature experience - Amazing tour and guides ! A wonderful experience in the nature with superb expertise and friendliness from the guides.

Wonderful Birding Experience - We had a wonderful experience birding with Jien from JungleWalla who helped identify many species of birds, together with Bad, who drove us in the comfort of their vehicle whether going up Gunung Raya or under the hot sun in the wetlands. It was thrilling to run after the calls of the great hornbill (gok gok gok) and to catch a glimpse of it in flight. We also spotted dusky leaf monkeys and giant squirrels in their natural habitats. We had fun chatting with Jien about our birding experience en route to the birding locations. Overall an amazing experience with the knowledgeable and friendly guides. Thank you both!

Great Birding in Langkawi Malaysia! - Our birding guide, Jien Din , was wonderful as was our driver who also spotted many birds. He asked in advance which birds we wanted to see and did everything possible to make sure we saw them.

Must do experience in Langkawi - Absolutely loved the half day bird watching tour! We saw over 30 different types of birds including the elusive Great Hornbill. Loved the variety of habitats and our guide Masyi was great 👍

Super half day birdwatching experience - We went on a half day bird watching tour, with guide Masyi. Prior to boarding we were asked what was our target bird,
"Love to see any hornbill if possible"
Masyi delivered, we saw all three species of Hornbills, they took us to the right place up in the jungle, and great sightings, also nice for this tourist, to see the Dusky Langur, including orange youngster, still clinging to mum. After visiting the rainforest we went to a lowland area near the airport to spot water birds, that delivered as well, with heron's, brahminy kites, cuckoo, pranticole, kingfisher etc. We recorded 24 species.
The trip was low effort, with short walks from the car, which was also welcome in the heat, and very effective.

Interesting experience - We would have a nice and unexcited tour where we could observe eagles and large rhino birds, among other things. We also received a lot of exciting information about the local wildlife.

Highlight great hornbill - As always with Viator, the activity is neatly regulated. Contact in advance, driver on time and fine guide. Only on Langkawi it is not so easy to photograph birds. Supply is limited and often at a great distance. Very much enjoyed the kingfishers and the great hornbill.
