Day Kayaking at Southern Uros Islands
This unique Uros Island kayaking tour begins at 9:00 am, following an early breakfast at the hotel. Our driver, Demetrio, will pick you up and take you to the Isla Esteves kayak dock.
The scenery near the local port departure is both stunning and breathtaking.
Excitement builds as participants don personal flotation devices, enter the kayaks, and prepare to paddle on the serene blue waters of Lake Titicaca.
However, if you’re new to kayaking, don’t worry! An English-speaking kayak guide will provide essential lessons on paddling techniques and more.
You’ll soon feel that nature is yours to explore.
Paddle at your own pace, with no pressure.
The area offers spectacular views where the high plateau sky and lake merge into one, with blue waterways, lush green reeds (especially during the rainy season), and native birds thriving in their natural habitat.
Enjoy a panoramic view of the Capachica and Chucuito Peninsulas.
The endless blue waters serve as a natural boundary between the Quechua-speaking people of Capachica and the Aymara-speaking people of the Chucuito Peninsula.
Here, Maria or Rocio will welcome you and invite you to visit their home (though sometimes the island is empty as they may be at their son’s island on the main Uros islands).
Your first thought might be about how these islands were constructed.
No need to wonder! Your guide will explain their origin, history, lifestyle, and, most importantly, how the islands are built while you enjoy some snacks.
For an extra relaxing experience, you can opt to ride on a traditional reed craft as it sails on the lake (optional and requires prior request).
Finally, you’ll head back to Puno through the main water channel, used by motorboats traveling to Taquile and Amantani Islands after visiting the Uros floating island.
There will also be additional time to explore the main Uros Islands located at Wily River.
Lunch is included and may be served at Maria’s house.
The meal consists of grilled chicken or trout with vegetables.
After exploring the islands, you’ll return to Puno and arrive at Isla Esteves.
The driver will be ready to take you back to your hotel.
