Take this tour! - If you’re in decent shape, take this tour. The kayaking was fun but the snorkeling was majestic. We saw lots of fish and quite a few turtles up close. Very magical

Kayak Hanalei Did a Great Job! - First off, the guide, Gabe, was very helpful with rigging all us guests with proper snorkel gear - masks, fins and dry bags - before helping us with life vest selections and paddles for the kayaks. He then gave the entire group a run-down of handling the paddles in case there were newbies in the group. He also gave us instructions for turning, braking and such. Secondly, after safely launching each of us, we paddled to an open area on the river and he gave us lessons on Hawaiian culture and significance of specific mountains that were visible from the Princeville area. The paddle down the river toward the beach was great fun for the other family guests who made it a water splashing fight going to the beach and coming back after snorkeling. They had a blast and fortunately kept it to themselves. We had fun listening to their hoots and hollers. Once we got the area for snorkeling, he helped us with beaching the kayaks so we would not fumble around too much. We were then off to snorkel the reef where the water teamed with fish and sea turtles. It was fantastic. After the snorkel session, he offered the guests treats (water or juice, chips, and freshly picked papaya) which we all enjoyed. Then, we paddled back up the river to the Kayak Hanalei site/shop and offloaded with Gabe's help. The tour was just long enough to get in a good 1/2 day of exercise and friendly company. Thank you Gabe for making it memorable!

A great experience! - Loved, loved, loved it! Kolo was a great guide with lots of history, geology, and vegetation knowledge. We went down the river, along the shore to a beach, and snorkeled. Kolo had fresh papaya and oranges, played his uke, and made some leaf origami. A highlight of our first trip to Kauai.

Adventure awaits - The trip was wonderful and the guide was great. Just be aware that there is a lot of paddling so if you aren't to fit it can be tiring. We had an afternoon tour and so the waves were a little trickier to manage.

Very Good Experience - Kayaking the river was really beautiful and cool entrance to the ocean. Snorkeling was really shallow but still good. Our guide Cola (sp) was terrific, very knowledgeable and shared great information.

Baby oil and Salt Water Blues - Amazing, and I got sick. I’m not sure if it was when we got to the ocean, or the taste of baby oil mixed with sea water. One of our guides gave baby oil to wipe around the snorkeling gear, and I somehow was able to taste some. That may have made me sick. Dunno. It was my first time snorkeling so it took a bit to work out the goal is to not go below the open snorkel air tube. Guys were nice and patient. Beautiful even on an overcast day.
