Hanalei Bay - Begin your adventure by slipping into the Hanalei River from a private dock. The journey downstream includes sharing the rich history of the Hanalei River and getting comfortable in the kayaks before venturing into Hanalei Bay, where most of the time will be spent. Here, you can observe the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) before heading to the beach to land the kayaks and enjoy a 45-minute snorkeling session. Guides will discuss modern reef ecology and highlight key points of interest while snorkeling. Afterward, a full deli-style lunch will be provided, allowing time to relax, socialize, and ask any questions about the island. The guides, who are native to the area, are passionate about sharing their local knowledge.
This tour requires an 8am check-in and operates from 8:30am to 1pm. Snorkel gear fitting is included (participants may bring their own complete set of gear, or a full set will be provided; mixing and matching gear is not allowed). Full-face masks are not permitted on the tour.

The Hawaiian family is delighted to share the rich history and culture of Hanalei with visitors. The ocean-river combination tour begins at a private dock and leads to a secluded beach. Participants can learn to snorkel in the crystal-clear Pacific waters, surrounded by diverse marine life. Alternatively, guests can enjoy lunch or snacks, engage in storytelling, and unwind on the beach. This tour is perfect for families and is suitable for individuals aged 5 and above.
- Must be at least 5 years of age to participate
- Free & ample public parking available
- 1:1 adult to child ratio required for children under 12
- Participants are welcome to use their personal snorkel gear with the exception of full face snorkel masks. Full Face Snorkel Masks are not permitted on tour. All participants are required to use a traditional 2 piece snorkel and mask set.
- 225lbs weight limit per person (exception of up to 250lbs if 6’ or taller)
- Pregnant travelers 28 weeks or less are welcome to participate
- All participants must be in good physical health, can paddle on their own, & get in/out of kayak on their own without assistance

A fun and cultural experience - I highly recommend the kayak/snorkel trip. Our guide, Kolo, was wonderful and easily handled the 6 people on our trip, including one couple who were first-time paddlers. After the paddle downriver, we had fun snorkeling. We were there after rainstorms, so the water was not as clear as it could have been. But we saw a very large honu (green sea turtle) and several varieties of fish. Kolo played ukulele and talked story as we enjoyed our snacks. He spoke about Kauai's history and culture. He inspired me to learn more, and I've been taking 'ōlelo Hawai'i on Duolingo to improve my understanding and pronunciation of the language. Mahalo, Kayak Hanalei.

Wonderful 3 part tour--Kayaking, Snorkeling, and Lunch on the Beach. - My kids and grandkids took this tour and absolutely loved it and would do it again. They were thrilled with the helpful guide and thoroughly enjoyed the Kayaking experience.
Their favorite part was the snorkeling and seeing so many fish. Lunch on the beach was also a wonderful, relaxing treat for them. Thanks so much!! Outstanding tour!

Kayak Hanalei trip was super cool - Great tour! Our guide, Kolo is a Hanalei native who helped us learn about the area, the wildlife, share some great stories and play some music!
The kayak is gentle, even when out in the bay it was pretty chill. The tide was low, so the snorkeling had to be careful around the coral, but we saw lots of cool fish, an octopus as well as a couple of turtles.
Great experience overall!

Such a fun adventure! - This was an amazing day tour and the guides took great care of our group. They were fun and informative.
We arrived early and waited a long time for the “late group's” of people to get registered. That was a little frustrating, but otherwise an excellent experience and worth the cost. I’d recommend bringing sun protection as the trip back was toasty.

Kayaking/Snorkeling Tour - The tour guides were very kind and friendly. Gave us some history about Kauai which was very interesting. The kayaking wasn’t very difficult. I would recommend plenty of sunscreen and a hat. My legs got pretty burned being on the kayak in the hot sun for so long. We went snorkeling for 45 minutes and then had lunch and kayaked back. Also, the tour was suppose to start at 8 a.m. but a lot of people showed up after 8 so don’t worry if you’re running a little late. They run on Hawaii time here 😊

Best Kayaking and snorkeling experience - One of the best tours in Kauai! This is a must. We had such a great time from the beginning of the tour to the end. Kayaking through a beautiful river and into the ocean with excellent snorkeling on a secluded beach was the highlight of our Kauai trip. Highly recommend it!

Great snorkeling and kayak adventure. - This was an awesome experience. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about the culture and the sea life and make a point to share the experiences with you. They took photos, even captured our sea turtle friend from underwater and airdropped the photos to us. It is not a trip for those unable to paddle. You’ll feel a work out but it is worth it. The gourmet sandwich on the beach and a taste from a coconut were icing on the cake. Parking is convenient and the coffee shop nearby has the best quick breakfast and coffee around.

Lovely morning with turtles - We had a fantastic morning, trip with Kolo and Gabe. An easy paddle out the Waimea river to the bay and then around the coast to a secluded beach, where there was only one other family Fantastic snorkeling with lots of turtles. Great lunch at the beach and an easy paddle back. Both Kolo and Gabe were lots of fun and very knowledgeable about local culture, tradition, and plants. Highly recommend!!
