Bandaranaike International Airport - Upon your arrival for the Sri Lanka 5 Days Sightseeing Tour, a representative from our team will greet you at Bandaranaike International Airport.
You will then be transported to your accommodation in the historic town of Kandy, where you can relax for the rest of the evening.
Royal Botanical Gardens - After visiting Peradeniya Botanical Garden, the largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka spanning 147 hectares, you can explore nearly 4000 plant species. Besides its flower garden, it also draws many visitors. Located 6 km from the city, Peradeniya Botanical Garden is a great place to unwind.
Kandy - In the evening, you will attend the Kandy Cultural Dance Show organized by the Kandy Lake Club, where you can witness various traditional dances. These dances are also performed at the Kandy Esala Perahera festival, and you might be fortunate to see some of them outside the festival.
Kandy - Dambulla - Sigiriya - Kandy
Matale - The Kandy to Sigiriya day trip begins after guests have breakfast at their hotel. The tour includes several amazing destinations, starting with the Matale Hindu temple, known as the “Muthumariamman Temple.” The name Muthumariamman combines Muthu (Pearl), Mari (rain), and Amman (mother). The temple is dedicated to the goddess Mariamman, believed to be the goddess of rain and fertility. Both Buddhists and Hindus worship here, and the temple’s wedding hall is often used for Hindu marriages. The main religious event is the chariot festival in March, a vibrant celebration.
Matale Herbal and Spice Garden - Next, the tour takes you to the spice garden in Matale, an enchanting place to wander through scented greenery and learn about spices and their uses in cooking, cosmetics, and medicine.
Sigiriya - After the spice garden, the next stops are the Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks. Tourists can choose the order of their visit. These two locations are the highlights of the Kandy to Sigiriya Day Tour. Sigiriya (Lion Rock) is an ancient fortress built by King Kashyapa, chosen as his new capital. Located near Dambulla, the rock stands 180m tall. Halfway up, King Kashyapa built a gateway resembling a giant lion, giving the rock its name. After the king’s death, the palace was abandoned and later used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Dambulla - The next stop is the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Dambulla Golden Temple, a sacred pilgrimage site for over 22 centuries. It is the largest preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka, with mural paintings covering 2100 m² and 157 statues. The temple consists of five caves built under a 150m tall hanging rock. The cave temple is a geological marvel. In 1982, a 15m statue and pagoda were added after a conservation project. UNESCO listed the temple as a heritage site for protection. This concludes your Kandy to Sigiriya day trip. We will drop you off at your pickup location or preferred destination.
Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Ella
Ramboda Waterfall - On day three, you will head to the charming village of Ella, nestled in the mountains of the Central Province. As you journey into the highlands, you will encounter mountains, waterfalls, and stunning flora. You’ll stop at several spots, including the 109-meter-tall Ramboda Falls, Sri Lanka’s eleventh-tallest waterfall. The next stop is the Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden, the oldest tea institution in Sri Lanka, offering tea samples and a free factory tour.
Nuwara Eliya - En route to the picturesque village of Nuwara Eliya, we’ll make notable stops, including Gregory Lake, where you can enjoy a pony ride and a delicious lunch. We’ll then visit the Nuwara Eliya post office, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest post offices with a unique design. Afterward, you will be taken to the Nanu Oya Railway Station to board the train for a scenic journey to the beautiful city of Ella. This train ride is one of Sri Lanka’s most romantic, offering breathtaking views of green tea estates, mountains, bridges, valleys, and lush wilderness. It’s also a great way to experience Sri Lankan culture, with vendors selling treats and children waving as the train passes. After the train ride, you’ll be escorted to your overnight accommodation.
Ella to Yala
Ella - On day six, we will travel to Yala, making stops along the way, including at Little Adam’s Peak. Also known as Mini Adam’s Peak, it shares its name with the famous Adams Peak (Sri Pada) due to their similar shape. A short hike to Little Adams Peak offers stunning views of tea plantations and the surrounding jungle.
Nine Arches Bridge - Next, we visit the Nine Arch Bridge, a marvel of engineering and beauty. Also known as the Bridge in the Sky, it is a colonial-era viaduct bridge.
Yala National Park - The safari experience at Yala National Park, the second-largest national park in Sri Lanka, will follow. Bordered by the Indian Ocean, only two of the park’s five blocks, Ruhunu and Kumana, are open to the public. Established as a wildlife sanctuary around 1900, Yala offers a rich safari experience. After the safari, you will be driven to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Yala - Colombo Airport
Bandaranaike International Airport - You will be dropped off at the airport three hours before your departure time.
Mirissa Beach - On day five, you will head directly to Galle to visit the famous Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterward, you will return to Mirissa.
Mirissa - In Mirissa, we’ll visit Coconut Tree Hill, possibly the most famous spot in Mirissa. This mineralized headland overlooks the Indian Ocean and is about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the beach. At the top, you’ll get a stunning view of the beach and Mirissa Bay, perfect for photos. You can then explore the town before heading to your overnight accommodation.
