Ritigala Forest Monastery - Ritigala is an ancient Buddhist monastery and mountain in Sri Lanka. The ruins and rock inscriptions date back to the 1st century BCE. The Ritigala mountain range consists of four peaks, with the main and highest peak in the south named Ritigala Kanda. This 1,528 ha (3,780 acres) Strict Nature Reserve in Sri Lanka’s Dry Zone is managed by the Department of Wildlife and the Forest Department of Sri Lanka.

This natural phenomenon is a massive (200m) square-shaped rock that appears to be placed there. Prepare for a challenge and conquer the 1200+ steps to the top. This is a must-do in Sri Lanka! The climb features well-marked paths and stairs, starting at the terrace gardens, offering the most impressive view of the rock. Along the way, take a breather at Sigiriya Frescoes (ancient wall drawings), the mirror wall, and the lion claws carved from the rock, just before the final climb. MAHIYANGANAYA - KANDY
Udawattekele Sanctuary - Head towards Kandy, stopping en route at Udawattekele Sanctuary. Udawatta Kele is a historic forest reserve on a hill-ridge in Kandy. It spans 104 hectares (257 acres). During the Kandyan kingdom era, it was known as “Uda Wasala Watta” in Sinhalese, meaning “the garden above the royal palace.” The sanctuary is famous for its extensive avifauna and contains a variety of plant species, especially lianas, shrubs, and small trees. Several giant lianas can be found here, along with many small and medium-sized mammals that inhabit Sri Lanka.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 16th century as a place of veneration and protection for Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. Walk through beautifully embellished passageways and elaborately painted halls in red, cream, and black. Lean against delicately carved pillars and be amazed by the beautiful golden statues. Experience an unforgettable journey through history and art.
