Very disappointing from... - Very disappointing from start to finish. Taxi arrived 2 hours late (with poor communication from the company at the time). When we got to the National Park, the driver simply turned and said "pay" - no explanation, no amount, nothing. Furthermore, $10 for entry into the national park is ridiculous considering the bathrooms were filthy, no soap to wash your hands, filthy shower area with spiders, no snorkeling equipment was taken on the boat. Our guide did not show up and there was an extra wait at the park before we got into the boat. The captain took us alone, didn't introduce himself, didn't provide any information en route, and did not engage with us or the activities. We finally got into the boat around 12pm! Because of this, we had to start with lunch then go snorkeling after (not a good order for many reasons). Everything felt quite rushed. After lunch we had 20mins to browse and shop on the island, then went snorkeling in high tide with rough waves and almost no marine life to see. We ended up having to move to another area, where the waves were even worse, but there were more fish I suppose. The snorkeling equipment was obtained by the captain from another random boat at the island - there was not enough for everyone, and the masks easily filled with water due to a weak seal. After snorkeling we only had 30mins to spend on the sandbank (before it would be underwater again) which was extremely unpleasant because of the rough waves, emerging rip tides, and the feeling of being rushed. Our boat trip back to the National Park had 2 episodes where the engine stopped working and had to be taken apart to fix it each time. Because of the late start and all other delays, we only ended up getting home at 18h30! Along with the other two people in our group, we tried to enjoy ourselves and find the good things amongst all of the above. These would be: 1. The market on kwale Island is lovely and the people/vendors are friendly. 2. The seafood came swiftly and was fairly tasty (but not amazing to be honest). If I ever do this again, I would book with a different company - there was a lot that could have been enjoyable.
