Trek to Upper Pisang 3300m -6 hrs. walk
Trek to Manang 3500m - 7 hrs. walk
Manang - The trek from Pisang to Manang (3440m) takes about five and a half hours. Beyond Pisang, the trail climbs a steep ridge offering good views of the Manang valley and Tilicho peak (7134m). Descending past Manang’s airstrip at Hongde (3420m), you reach a level area where the north-east face of Annapurna III rises majestically. From the wide plains of the Sabje Khola Valley, Annapurna IV (7525m) also becomes visible. Just beyond this point, you cross the reduced flow of the Marsyangdi Khola via a wooden bridge to the tiny village of Mungji. Cultivated fields appear on both sides of the path, and off to the right, below a craggy mountain, you can see the village of Bryaga (3500m) with its splendid monastery. Large chortens and mani walls abound, and the tall peaks of the Himalayas spread out before us - Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna (7454m), and, to the rear, Tilicho Peak (7134m).
Acclimatization Day in Manang 3500m
Manang - Medical professionals recommend that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing before heading to higher elevations. They also suggest staying active. From Manang, you will be blessed with views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III (7555m), Gangapurna (7454m), Tilicho (7132m) to the south, and the Grand Barrier (a 7000m ridge) to the west. To the north, you can see Chulu West (6583m) and Chulu East (6059m). Today, to better acclimatize to these higher altitudes, we will climb up to Khangsar (3756m). Tonight, we stay in Manang.
Trek to Shree Kharka 3850m - 6 hrs. walk
Trek to Tilicho Base camp 4200m - 6 hrs. walk
Trek to Tilicho Lake 4920m - 6 hrs. walk
Tilicho Lake - The trek starts with a steep ascent and continues along the side of the mountain before reaching the lake. On our way, we can see yaks and deer grazing in the pasture. As we reach Tilicho Lake, we can see the large turquoise lake nestled at the foot of the north face of Tilicho Peak. The beauty of the scene is appreciated by many travelers from around the world. The lake holds great significance for Hindus as it is mentioned in the holy text, the Ramayan.
Trek to Yak Kharka 4200m crossing Mesokanta pass 5120m - 9 hrs walk
Yak Kharka - We start early as today is a highlight of our trip. We will be crossing the challenging Mesokanta La pass. It’s possible that we will feel more exhausted today as we ascend above 5000m. We start from the lake beach, making about a 300m climb through loose scree to a cathedral guarded by fluttering prayer flags. Then comes a long section of flat snowfield to cross to the far end of the lake known as Eastern Pass. Dhaulagiri appears for the first time ahead of us, initially peeking up quietly on the far horizon, though it soon dominates the view. The path traverses upwards, and Tilicho Lake appears again briefly between mountainsides behind us. This involves about half a mile of traversing a rocky gradient. A rock tower, a somewhat incompatible signpost to Jomsom, marks the Mesokanto La itself. It’s renowned as one of the most challenging passes in the Annapurnas because the far side is covered in ice and is awfully steep.
Trek to Jomsom 2700m - 6 hrs. walk
Jomsom - Today we are in the Kali Gandaki valley. We descend to Jomsom via a beautiful village on our last day of trekking. We walk through juniper forests and bushes that give off a pleasant smell until we reach the top of Thini village. In Thini, all the fields are full of greenery, including wheat, barley, potatoes, and vegetables. We can clearly view the lower Mustang valley, including Marpha, Syang, Dhumba, Thini, old and new Jomsom.
Drive to Pokhara (8 hours)
Pokhara - At 8 am, we will drive to Pokhara, offering a scenic journey through the rugged landscapes of the Annapurna region. The trip typically takes around 8 hours, passing through charming villages, deep gorges, and alongside the Kali Gandaki River.
Drive to Kathmandu 1350m - 7 hrs.
Kathmandu - In the morning, we will take a comfortable and scenic journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu by a sofa seat tourist bus, lasting approximately 7 hours. The trip offers panoramic views of Nepal’s beautiful landscapes.
