Best team on the Manaslu circuit - There were 4 of us in our group for the Manaslu Circuit Trek and we had an amazing time. Our guide Sobirye (Rye) and 2 helpers, Sabeen and Indra were so patient and kind. Rye had so much knowledge about the area and Nepal in general. His positive can-do attitude kept us all going even through the tough parts of the hike! Sabeen and Indra also did much more than just carry our bags. They were always around to lend a hand if we needed anything at the accommodations and were especially helpful during the Larke pass hike, helping one of our group who was feeling ill down the mountain. We really felt like we had the best team on the circuit! Booking our trek with Adventure Glacier treks couldnt have been easier. Diwakar always quickly responded to any queries and was extremely helpful throughout the process. When we arrived in Nepal we were taken care of from the start by Diwaker and Dill in Kathmandu and then our trekking team from then on. We would all highly recommend booking any hike with this company. Thanks again to all the Adventure Galcier team!!

Manaslu Circuit + Larkya Peak Experience - I've gone on two treks with Dil's company and had really good experiences. Dil is a pleasure to work with. He cares deeply about his clients, is well organized, clearly communicates in a timely manner, and is a real delight. First Trek: Mardi Himal (2018) - 5 Stars We trekked the Mardi Himal trail in the Annapurna region with Arjun as our guide. Everything was flawless. Dil also organized additional activities, including whitewater rafting, paragliding, and a guided tour in Chitwan National Park. Every aspect of the trip went smoothly. He made our trip! Second Trek: Manaslu Circuit with Larkya La Peak (2024) - 4 Stars This 18-day trip included time in Kathmandu, the trek itself, and a climb up a 6000m peak. The trek was more complex, involving 1 guide, 2 porters, and a peak-climbing team. While the overall experience was good, there were some challenges. The Good - Guide and porters: Our guide was solid, and the porters were incredible. - Seamless logistics: Dil takes care of all the permits and our guide took care of getting us fed at the teahouses. - Acclimatization highlights: Our guide added two side trips to Pungyen Valley and Manaslu Base Camp, both spectacular and highlights of the trek. - Safe handling of weather: Despite rainy shoulder-season conditions, our guide kept us safe. Trip Insights: - Most teahouses had cold showers, which we used. - Wi-Fi was available at nearly every teahouse. - We strongly recommend if it's raining hard, do not travel on the roads in Nepal. There can be dangerous landslides. Just go in the bus/jeep another day. - The schedule for the Manaslu Circuit was only moderately accurate. It took just 11 days on-trail and we were expecting closer to 15. Our guide had more detailed knowledge than Dil of the exact places we planned to sleep each night. His knowledge of the Manaslu circuit was excellent and he made good decisions based on our group fitness and the weather. The Downsides: 1. Communication gaps: - Dil and the guide occasionally had mixed messages, causing some confusion. - Our guide’s English was adequate but made complex communication challenging. 2. Guide-porter coordination: Communication issues between our guide and porters led to occasional confusion, particularly on peak day when one team member had to travel alone with the porters due to illness while the others went up for a peak. 3. Peak climbing issues: - There were three local guides for the peak day. They did not equip us properly (think not giving us ice axes or real crampons for a 6000m peak). - The local guides chose an easier peak than we had expected, which was fine by us, but this was communicated too late and was not very clear. - We had felt comfortable with the 6000m peak because we talked to a guide on the phone that had done the peak multiple times. We did not realize when we arrived it was a different set of local guides and we didn't think to double check. Overall, I think Dil's team is fantastic for a set package trip. I think they learned some lessons from the challenges we encountered by adding on a lesser known peak in the Manaslu Circuit. If you're looking to do a standard trek, Dil's team is really wonderful. If you're planning to add on something like a peak, make sure to do your research and be very clear with what you're looking for. Double check your assumptions and your risk tolerance constantly.
