Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2652 meters) - 4 hrs trek
Phakding - Our guide will collect you from the hotel for a 30-35 minute early morning flight to Lukla. The flight itself is an exciting adventure, offering aerial views of the expansive landscape, lush valleys, hills, the Himalayan range, and winding rivers. Upon arrival, meet the rest of the team (porters) and begin the short trek to Phakding. As you pass local settlements and spinning prayer wheels, descend to Chheplung village past mani walls. Cross several suspension bridges and walk through dense forests rich with diverse flora and fauna. Overnight at a local guest house.
Trek to Namche Bazaar - (3,440 meters) 6 hrs trek
Namche Bazaar - Today’s trail follows the riverbank upstream to the junction of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi Rivers. Cross the Hilary Bridge and ascend to Namche Bazaar. Along the way, enjoy incredible photographic opportunities as the peaks of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8511m), Nuptse (7879m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Taweche (6542m) come into view for the first time. Overnight at a local guesthouse.
Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
Namche Bazaar - Spend the day in Namche to acclimatize to the altitude, an ideal rest day before ascending to higher elevations. Instead of resting in the lodge, it is recommended to stay active and mobile. A few hundred feet of vertical trekking during the day will aid in acclimatization. Alternatively, explore Namche Bazaar, the center of the Everest region, with its many lodges, tea shops, souvenir shops, ATMs, money exchangers, internet cafes, government offices, restaurants, and bakeries. Visit the Visitor Center near the Sagarmatha National Park headquarters to learn about the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture, and the park’s flora and fauna. Surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kongde and Thamserku, Khumjung hosts a renowned monastery housing a yeti scalp.
Trek to Tengboche - (3,860 meters) 5 hrs trek
Tengboche - After breakfast, depart for Tengboche. The trail offers splendid views of snowy peaks like Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Ama Dablam. The trek is moderate and not difficult, with views improving as you progress. Encounter wildlife, visit monasteries, and pass through beautiful villages en route to Tengboche. Possible wildlife sightings include musk deer, Himalayan Thar herds, and colorful pheasants. Traverse forests and rivers to reach Tengboche.
Trek to Dingboche - (4,410 meters) 5 hrs trek
Dingboche - Walk through the dense forests of the Imja Valley. The views improve as you climb higher. Hike to Pangboche (3,985m), home to a monastery dating back to the introduction of Buddhism in the Khumbu region. Reach Dingboche (4,410m) for an overnight stay.
Rest Day at Dingboche
Dingboche - Spend a day in Dingboche to allow your body to adjust to the altitude. Consider booking a hike to Chhukung, starting around 8:30 in the morning after breakfast. The trek to Chhukung is not difficult, offering stunning mountain views, especially of Ama Dablam. Return to Dingboche for the night, possibly encountering strong winds on the way back.
Trek to Lobuche - (4,910 meters) 5 hrs trek
Lobuche - Today is one of the most beautiful days of the Everest Base Camp trek. Set off for Lobuche, encountering larger snow-capped mountains with tiny villages dwarfed in their shadows, adding grandeur to the peaks. The trek offers beautiful mountain views, including Ama Dablam, Pokalde (5,741m), Kongma-Tse (5,820m), and the great wall of Nuptse. Pass the Trekkers Aid Post at Pheriche (4240 m), staffed by volunteer western doctors, and reach Chukpo Lari after a short, steep climb. This beautiful yet poignant place features memorials to climbers who perished during Everest expeditions, highlighting the vastness of Hillary and Tenzing’s 1953 achievement. Continue to Lobuche, rest, explore the surroundings, and watch the sunset over Nuptse. Prepare for the much-anticipated ascent to Everest Base Camp tomorrow.
Trek to Everest Base Camp and Back to Gorakshep for Night - (5400 meters) 8 hrs trek
Everest Base Camp - Today involves a long 8-hour walk to reach base camp. Begin by walking over a rocky path with views of glacial ponds and icebergs. Climb through meadows and moraine stone steps to reach Gorakhshep, then either climb to Kalapathar (5,555 m) or continue to Everest Base Camp. Kala Patthar (5,550 m), meaning ‘black rock,’ is a small peak. Spend memorable moments at base camp before returning to Gorakhshep. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Trek to Pheriche (4,210 meters) via Kala Patthar (5,555 meters) - 7 hrs walk
Pheriche - Start early in the morning, reaching Kala Patthar after about two hours of ascent. The challenging climb is rewarded with breathtaking views. Kala Patthar, adorned with prayer flags and cairns, features a small stupa and weather station at its summit, surrounded by glaciers and panoramic mountain views, including Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Everest, and Kantega. Have breakfast back at Gorakshep and descend to Pheriche for a well-deserved rest. Overnight at a local guesthouse.
Trek to Namche Bazaar - (3440 meters) -7 hrs trek
Namche Bazaar - The return journey to Namche Bazaar is a pleasant trek through valleys and pasturelands. Descend to lower altitudes where breathing becomes easier and temperatures rise. Pass through Tengboche and enjoy the picturesque Monjo valley views. Follow the path back to Lukla, with spectacular views of Amadablam. Continue through hillsides blanketed by rhododendrons and juniper trees, keeping an eye out for wildlife such as colorful pheasants, mountain goats, and snow leopards. The distant mountains captivate your gaze.
Trek to Lukla - (2800 meters) 7 hrs trek
Lukla - As you trek back, the path descends steeply. Breathing becomes easier as the air gets denser. Continue along the trail through Sherpa villages and follow the Tenzing and Hillary suspension bridge. The trail offers picturesque landscape views and mountain scenery. Follow the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, crossing many suspension bridges, passing through forests and small villages, to reach Lukla, the final stop in the Solukhumbu region. Explore Lukla Bazaar, shop for local items, and celebrate a successful and safe trek with your crew.
Fly Back to Ramechhap or Kathmandu
Kathmandu - Early morning, depart Tenzing Hillary airport on a scenic 35-minute flight back to Ramechhap/Kathmandu. Enjoy the mesmerizing views of the Khumbu region from above, carrying memories of an unforgettable and successful journey to EBC. Upon arrival, your guide will transfer you to the hotel for a well-deserved rest after the long trek. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner together.
