Women excel in preparing traditional foods as they cook almost three times daily, making them highly experienced. Your instructors will be my wife, our sister, and our mother, and occasionally, our three adorable little girls will join in the cooking sessions. If you’re interested in exploring the local market, we can guide you and explain the various spices and vegetables. Join us to learn traditional cooking and savor divine food. We don’t have a professional chef; our teachers are my wife, sister, and mother, who are experts in traditional Sri Lankan cooking. The class takes place in our home kitchen, offering you a glimpse into Sri Lankan family life. Come, enjoy, and learn our traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. At the end of the class, we provide you with the recipes. If needed, we can arrange pick-up and drop-off services to your hotel (within the Kandy city area only).”

Great experience highly recommended - What a real honour to be allowed into someone’s home and learn how to cook authentic Sri Lankan food with such a lovely family. We learnt some great simple techniques that we look forward to trying at home. All topped off with some great food to eat at the end of the experience. Highly recommended !

Sri Lankan Cooking Class - A must do experience! The cooking class was ran by multiple generations of Sri Lankan ladies with vast knowledge- we cooked many curry’s (around 12 dishes) and all were fantastic- favourites were hard to choose but the eggplant curry (brinjal moju), mango curry and the chicken curry were all standouts.
The host was very responsive by WhatsApp, and the ladies were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Would recommend for a authentic experience.

Excellent cooking class in Kandy with a tasty meal at the end - The Best Kandy Cooking class was excellent fun, very interesting and showed us how to cook so many different dishes. We really enjoyed using some of the more traditional kitchen utensils, like the coconut grater. All three women who helped us with the cooking were friendly, patient and very cheerful. After eating the delicious food they helped us make we were sent all the recipes via Whatsapp so that we can try perfecting them at home too. An excellent way to spend three hours in Kandy in a local home. We thoroughly recommend it as an activity to do whilst in Kandy.

Highlight of the trip! - We couldn't have wished for a better experience - from the exciting shopping at the vegetable market to the warm welcome at the house! The whole evening has been so relaxing and we loved being immersed in a four generation Sri Lankan family. The recipes are so delicious - the coconut Sambal in particular is very special. Thank you for a memorable evening!

Definitely recommend - We had a fabulous evening with the family who welcomed us into their home where we cooked so many really tasty dishes. We got to use some of the traditional equipment too!

A very special cooking experience - Best Kitchen Kandy was one of the absolute highlights of our Sri Lanka trip. The variety of dishes and incredible flavours were outstanding, with special insight into family recipes. The experience began with a hands-on market visit to learn about local ingredients and spices, followed by cooking and sharing the meal in a welcoming family home. A very special evening that we would highly recommended to anyone visiting Kandy.

Great cooking experience - We have had such a great experience at Kandy Best Kitchen. It felt like cooking with good friends: the curries were delicious, the preparation fun, we have learned a lot about Sri Lankan cuisine and got the recipes so that we can cook them at home. Thank you so much!
