Kisoro - The pick-up will be from either the hotel in Kigali or Kigali Airport upon arrival (before 12pm). The designated Professional English-speaking Tour Driver-guide will meet you, and the journey to Cyanika Border Post will commence. At Cyanika, a Uganda-based Professional Tour Driver-guide will welcome you and take over from the Rwanda-based guide. You will cross the border into Uganda and spend the night at a property near Mgahinga NP, where you will go golden monkey trekking the next day.
Golden monkey trekking Mgahinga NP. Transfer to Bwindi (Ruhija Sector).
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - Uganda is rich in primates, and the golden monkeys are a must-see species. These beautiful primates are found in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, part of the Virunga Mountains where they are endemic. This morning, you will drive for about 45 minutes to an hour to the Mgahinga NP ranger’s post. Upon arrival, you will receive a briefing, and a ranger-guide will lead you into the Mgahinga Forest to encounter golden monkeys. Once located, you will have an hour to observe them. The experience is so captivating that time will fly by. Afterward, you will return to the car and head to accommodation at the edge of Bwindi NP, where gorilla trekking awaits tomorrow.
Gorilla trekking Bwindi Forest. Return and relax at leisure - recovering.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Enjoy breakfast and proceed to the rangers’ post. You will receive a briefing (from a ranger-guide) on the dos and don’ts during gorilla trekking. Then, you will enter the forest for your adventure and encounter. The beauty of this rainforest is breathtaking! The area features a dramatic, steeply forested landscape that is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access to tourists. The time taken (4-8 hours) and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will have an hour to observe them. The thrill of spending time with these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. Return to the accommodation and rest after a strenuous trek.
Game viewing Ishasha for tree-climbing lions. Connect north Queen.
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Rise early, have breakfast, and set off for the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP, renowned for its tree-climbing lion population. Once there, embark on a game drive in search of this rare species of lions. The chance of spotting these lions is about 60-70%, but they can be elusive, especially when they are in the grassland hunting for prey. If you spot the lions in the trees, the sight is picturesque and unforgettable. From Ishasha (south), exit and head to the booked accommodation in the north sector. Check in and relax.
Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga Channel.
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Rise early and enjoy breakfast. Head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, keeping an eye out for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants, and lions, leopards (though they are elusive), among others. Return to the accommodation for some rest and lunch. After lunch, embark on a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes George and Edward. During the trip, you will be fascinated by the sight of wildlife, including giant hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, among others. You will also see many bird species along the water shores. *After the boat trip, you can choose to return to the lodge to rest or proceed for a brief late afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge.
Transfer to Lake Mburo NP and enjoy afternoon (evening) game drive.
Lake Mburo National Park - Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then set off for Lake Mburo NP. Mburo is a compact gem, conveniently located near the highway connecting Entebbe/Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah National Parks but is home to numerous bird species and animals such as giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands, buffalo, and the elusive leopard, among others. Upon arrival, check in and rest before heading out for a late afternoon-to-evening game drive to get up close with the Mburo inhabitants. Finally, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Morning walking safari in the park. Transfer to Entebbe to catch flight.
Uganda Equator - Enjoy an early breakfast and proceed for the Mburo morning park (bush) walk with an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. On this early morning guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter zebras, giraffes, elands, topis, and other antelopes, as well as Cape buffaloes, among others, at close range. Afterward, return to the accommodation for checkout and then head to Entebbe airport to catch a flight (from 1730hrs or later). Expect a stop at the Equator crossing (Kayabwe), where you can take memorable photos while in the Pearl of Africa.
