- Ancient Kamiros - Our journey starts with Ancient Kamiros, an ancient city on the island of Rhodes. Located on the northwest coast, 3 kilometers west of the modern village of Kalavarda, the city was built on three levels. At the top of the hill was the Acropolis, featuring the temple complex of Athena and the stoa. The main settlement was on the middle terrace, with a grid of parallel streets and residential blocks. The lower terrace housed a Doric temple, likely dedicated to Apollo, the Fountain House, the Agora, and the Peribolos of the Altars, which contained dedications to various deities. The area was inhabited by Mycenaean Greeks during the prehistoric period, and the city itself was founded by the Dorians. (Entrance fee: 6 euros)
- Kritinia Castle - The Castle of Kritinia is a 16th-century medieval castle situated on a hill about 131 meters above the village of Kritinia. It offers a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea, the island of Chalki, and some other deserted islands.
- Ebonas Winecellar - We will visit a winery in the village of Embona, one of the oldest on Rhodes island, for wine and olive oil tasting, along with local products. The wines are made from grapes collected from local vineyards, offering a variety of choices. Visitors can also taste liqueurs, ouzo, souma with honey, masticha, and pomegranate, paired with nuts and fresh fruits, for free at the bar. Olive oil is produced here, and you can find honey from local producers, as well as cosmetics and herbs made with olive oil. Enjoy traditional food at a local tavern in Embona’s village during your free time, with recommendations from your tour guide. Don’t forget to check out Embona’s souvenir shops for authentic handmade goods!
- Profitis Ilias - Next, we will drive to Profitis Ilias, a 798-meter-high mountain with interesting attractions. This small summer resort, created by the Italians in 1929, is nestled in a forest of Aleppo pines, cedars, and cypress trees, and is populated by deer. It’s an ideal stop for photos or a coffee break. On the way, we will pass by a building that was the cottage of the Italian dictator Mussolini during World War II.
- Agios Nikolaos Fountoukli - Continuing on, we reach the Fountouklis area to visit a Byzantine church dedicated to Saint Nikolaos. Dating from the 14th to 15th century, this central square building is covered with a dome and features a notable triple composition of frescoes in the apse.
- Kallithea Springs - Heading east through the countryside and villages of Rhodes island, we arrive at Kallithea Springs, a majestic place known since ancient times for the beneficial properties of its waters. Now fully restored and tastefully refurbished, Kallithea Springs welcomes hundreds of visitors daily. The facilities are worth seeing, and you can swim in the clear blue waters of its coves, enjoy refreshments at the seaside coffee shop, or visit the photo gallery with historical photos of the island. The unique mosaics, monumental architecture, and the hall of the Rotunda, where thermal waters once flowed, evoke a nostalgic sense of another era. (Entrance fee: 3 euros per person).
