Great Meteoron Monastery - The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron or Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour: It is the biggest of the monasteries. The church, honoured to the ‘Transfiguration’ was erected in the middle of 14th century and 1387/88 and decorated in 1483 and 1552. The old monastery is used as a museum, nowadays.

Discover one of the world’s most remarkable monuments, recognized by UNESCO as “A Preserved and Protected Monument of Humanity”. Meteora stands as Greece’s second most significant monastic hub. The first hermits arrived in the 11th century, and the site thrived as a monastic center during the 13th and 14th centuries, attracting many from nearby regions to the monastic life. These extraordinary and towering rock columns rise sharply from the earth, with their unique geological formation remaining a mystery. Unlike typical volcanic plugs of hard igneous rock, these rocks are a blend of sandstone and conglomerate. This tour features visits to three monasteries and several scenic viewpoints. Note: The tour can be adjusted from a day tour to a sunset tour.
