beautiful and challenging hike - Julia is an excellent trail guide. She knows and shows how to navigate each section of the trail from the rainforest to the rock scramble. A good guide makes the trail successful for all and Julia did exactly that. The view of the glacier after a challenging scramble was glorious.

Challenging but Very Doable- highlight of our trip!! - My fiance and I did the guided hike with our tour guide, Josh, and it was by far the highlight of our trip. Josh was very knowledgeable and passionate about both hiking and the flora native to the area. He made us feel safe and confident throughout the hike. It was raining steadily throughout the entire hike, we were very glad to have waterproof hiking boots, wool socks, and rain gear. The provided gear was great to switch into a dry jacket half way through. The hike does include some rock scrambling/climbing that seemed daunting at first, but was very doable. It does require decent flexibility and both upper and lower body strength. If you are adventurous, want to spend time out in the Alaskan wilderness, and see the glacier (which is absolutely incredible), definitely do this hike!!! Cannot recommend it enough!

Experience glacier up close - Fantast Experience! Josh our tour guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and clearly passionate on the local wildlife and glacier, making it an absolutely fabulous experience. It does get quite windy and cold once you’re near the glacier so do bring gloves and beanies. We were provided with gear (pants, jackets and boots) as well as snacks which you’ll need after working out to spectacular views.

Mendenhall Glacier Hike - I hiked up to see Mendenhall with Josh and Bella as guides. We had an awesome time hiking up to the glacier and saw a deep blue patch where a piece had recently broke off. Bella and Josh were a wealth of knowledge as tour guides. They are fantastic people and tour guides!

Gorgeous Hike - We had such a memorable experience and our tour guide Halle was amazing. The tour provides some hiking gear that is very helpful. Be prepared for beautiful views, and a challenging hike that includes some scrambles, and switchbacks. The snacks provided were so good too. We had a great time and can’t wait to visit again soon.

Score one for Customer Service - I wish I was writing a review of the great time we had on the Mendenhall Glacier hike. Instead, because Princess let us get onto a broken down boat that had no chance of making the published itinerary, I’m writing a review of the great customer service we received from Above and Beyond AK. Although our Captain couldn’t tell us what time we were getting to Juneau apparently they could communicate to the tour operators. On the afternoon before our arrival we got a text and email from ABAK saying they had been informed our arrival would be too late for the tour and they were canceling and refunding our tour. We had booked directly through ABAK and had been concerned that getting a refund would be an issue. Fortunately for us, ABAK is an honest and forthright company. I hope we’ll be able to make it back to Juneau someday and will definitely book with ABAK.

Awesome!! A check mark off my bucket list. - Kayley was a wonder guide. She went out of her way to help those who needed help. I was one of them. On the hard parts for me, she was right there guiding my foot placement and coaching me with kind, loving words. Thank you kayley.!!!

Great private hike with family - We had a fabulous day hiking in the rain with Ben. I wasn't sure how the day was going to go since it was raining, but that didn't stop us! We hiked over gorgeous terrain and Ben was patient and fun with our 2 kids. The sky ended up clearing right when we arrived at the glacier so we got beautiful views both foggy and and sunny. As it states, you can't actually touch the glacier, its now separated by a small lake from the land.. so dont expect to touch or get on it in any way. I knew that, but I did not understand that there is actually no access to the glacier at all. The pictures of all that blue glacier are from previous years. That being said, it was an awesome day and one we will not soon forget! Highly rec doing the private group tour! It was awesome for our family!
