Discover the stunning coastline of Juneau on a small-group kayaking journey through the picturesque Mendenhall Wetlands. Be sure to have your camera ready as you paddle by eagles perched in the trees, harbor seals lounging on the rocks, and perhaps even a curious sea lion or porpoise swimming nearby. From your kayak, enjoy a unique view of the magnificent Mendenhall Glacier, visible from six miles away as it winds through the mountain peaks.
This tour is purposefully limited to a maximum of 8 guests, ensuring a peaceful, intimate experience. Unlike other tours, each participant paddles their own single kayak, providing better control, comfort, and the chance to explore. (Double kayaks are available upon request.)
You will be fully equipped with a high-quality dry suit, keeping you warm and dry in any weather. Our knowledgeable local guides offer hands-on instruction and support throughout the tour, making this adventure perfect for both first-time kayakers and those with previous experience.
- We will pick you up from the cruise ship port and then drive for 20 minutes to the North Douglas boat launch ramp. We will introduce equipment, go over safety protocols, and get everyone suited up and in their kayaks. We will be on the water for 2 hours, including a beach walk and snack break. The entire tour will take 3.5 hours.

We meet on the main cruise ship dock underneath a blue tent next to the Alaskan Public house (Alaskan Brewing Co.). On the other side of the tent there is a large parking garage with a mural painted on the side.

Fantastic Paddle Experience - Dry suits are a great option but if weather allows a skirt around kayak is enough. Guides were awesome people and gave us a personal experience.

Best day ever - Everything about this excursion was delightful. Jake came to pick me up, he was incredibly helpful in getting the gear on. There were only 3 of us on this excursion. The paddle across the bay was serene and beautiful. We were surrounded by snow-capped mountains, with sunshine glinting on the water. It was a heavenly experience.

Paddle Juneau is THE BEST!! - This is hands down my favorite thing I did in Juneau! It was so fun to be on the water, which gives a unique view of the glacier. My guide Nigel was super friendly and was very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. It wasn’t a difficult paddle. I highly recommend this tour!

The Highlight of Our Alaska Trip - Absolutely incredible experience on the Juneau Small Group Sea Kayaking tour with views of the stunning Mendenhall Glacier. The scenery was breathtaking, the kayaking was so much fun, and the whole trip was perfectly organised from start to finish. Jacob was an amazing guide,friendly, knowledgeable, professional and made the entire experience unforgettable. Emily and Tod were also fantastic company and really added to the fun atmosphere of the trip.
Seeing Alaska from the water like this was something truly special and easily one of the highlights of our holiday. If you’re visiting Juneau, I honestly can’t recommend this tour enough. Thank you all for such an amazing adventure and memories we’ll never forget! 🚣♂️🏔️🦅

Amazing tour operators - Our tour operator-paddle Juneau was very patience and friendly. I was feeling unsafe and scared as I never kayak before. But they were very encouraging and assuring. They were engaging us with lots of informations about Juneau and sharing their lives happenings while on the way to the location. I can see that all the four of us were relaxed and excited cracking jokes along.. Their knowledge and expertise in kayaking were exceptional, making sure all under their cares were safe keeping close to us. We learned lots like how to handle the waves, paddling the right direction. We never came across such amazing guides. Not forgetting the nice cup of soothing tea made on the spot.

Super kayak trip - Everything was well organised and explained, the equipment was ex̌cellent and all very safe.
Instructions were clear and nigel and Jacob were great guides. Lovely experience seeing the glacier and eagles flying overhead.
Really nice refreshments stop and smooth ride back.

Best Excursion in Alaska - Our family had an absolutely incredible kayaking adventure today at the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Alaska—it was truly the highlight of our entire cruise. From start to finish, the experience was unforgettable.
A huge thank you to our guides, Nigel and Jacob, who made the tour exceptional. They were extremely knowledgeable and shared so much fascinating information about the glacier, the surrounding wildlife, and the area’s history. Beyond that, they were genuinely kind, friendly, and made everyone feel comfortable and confident out on the water.
Kayaking so close to the glacier was breathtaking—something we’ll be talking about for years to come. If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate. It’s an absolute must-do, and with guides like Nigel and Jacob, you’re in the best hands.

Happy kayak-er! - My experience was amazing! I was in Juneau for wok solo and snuck in a quick kayak experience and it was SO wonderful! I felt safe, it was beautiful, our guide, Jake was wonderful and charming! I’m so so glad I went on this excursion!

A windy excursion cut short - The scenery was beautiful, Nigel was kind & helpful, but due to the strong wind & rough waters, I did not feel safe. Nigel ended our excursion early due to the unsafe conditions, but probably shouldn't have taken us out on the water at all. It was an extremely difficult paddle back to our starting place, & we were paddling against the wind & into small waves, which was exhausting & I was afraid my kayak was going to flip. I'm sure this is a wonderful outing when the water & wind are calm, but it was unpleasant due to the unsafe conditions.
