Explore historical braiding materials owned by Domyo, including replicas that accurately recreate ancient braids, right down to the thread structure. By following the progression of braids over time, you can appreciate the remarkable advancement of Japanese braiding techniques. In the demonstration area, observe the braiding process with live demonstrations by skilled craftsmen.

Kumihimo Workshop
Participate in a course to experience Naragumi braiding and create simple items like straps, key chains, and bracelets. Engage in making genuine braids using tools employed in product creation and 100% silk materials.

Established in 1652 in Tokyo, Japan, our company is a traditional braiding business specializing in the Japanese craft technique known as Kumihimo. This technique has been historically utilized in Japanese garments and accessories, including imperial court costumes, sword knots, and kimono sash bands.

For many years, we have had the honor of serving the imperial family and have been entrusted with the reproduction of national treasure pieces for museums. As a company with a rich history and a commitment to preserving this craftsmanship for future generations, we handcraft everything from spinning silk threads to dyeing and braiding, ensuring the highest standards of quality.

We invite visitors to experience the essence of Japan’s traditional crafts by exploring historical kumihimo archives and observing artisans as they demonstrate the kumihimo production process.
