The Railway Museum, one of Japan’s largest, proudly displays a diverse and precious collection of rolling stock, from steam locomotives to Shinkansen trains, including 53 cars that played a vital role in the modernization of Japan (you can find the list of train cars in Japanese). The museum’s theme is “Look, Touch, and Experience,” and visitors can explore numerous intricate exhibits.

  • While strollers may be brought into the facility, please refrain from bringing steerable toys such as tricycles and bicycles.
  • Eating and drinking are prohibited in the exhibit rooms. Please use the restaurant/rest areas or courtyard (where you may bring your own food and beverages) for eating and drinking.
  • Smoking is prohibited inside all buildings. There are 2 designated outdoor smoking areas within the facility. There are no cigarette vending machines.
  • If traveler want to enjoy the SL steam train ticket can be purchased at the location.

I'd be happy to do it again. It's worth it for small children and for professionals. - Very good exhibition. Several old locomotives and carriages including steam locomotives and Shinkansen of various types are on display. Old signal boxes and old signal control systems are well represented. Track construction and old train stations.
