Braamfontein for a guided tour of this iconic institution.
Constitution Hill is a living museum that tells the story of South
Africa’s journey to democracy. The site is a former prison and
military fort that bears testament to South Africa’s turbulent
past. Today, it’s home to the country’s Constitutional Court which
endorses the rights of all citizens. We cross over the striking Mandela Bridge on our way
    into
Johannesburg CBD. Named in honour of Nelson Mandela, the
284-metre long bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge in South
Africa and links two significant business districts.
  • Mary Fitzgerald Square - We cross over the striking Mandela Bridge on our way into Newtown. Named in honour of Nelson Mandela, the

The Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg in South Africa is a public space named after Mary “Pickhandle” Fitzgerald, who is considered to have been the first female trade unionist in the country.

  • Carlton Centre - We visit the Carlton Centre, also known as the ‘Top of Africa’. There a lift will elevate you 50 stories for an amazing and total view over the city.

The museum illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid through a series of 22 individual exhibitions that take you on an emotional journey from the heartbreaking struggle for freedom and equality to the ultimate climax of the election of Nelson Mandela, the first Black president of South Africa.
It’s mid-day by the time we visit the Apartheid Museum. You can

A must do if visiting South Africa! - From pick up to drop off our tour was informative, heart warming and engaging. We enjoyed our guides easy going and friendly nature along with his care for us and pride for his home town, Soweto. We appreciated his concern for our welfare and his desire for us to learn and have a great day. All visitors to South Africa should do this tour.

Must Do Soweto Tour - I'm embarrassed to admit, I knew very little about Johannesburg before meeting Prince, our knowledgeable, sociable, and professional tour guide in Soweto. We had an odd amount of time to hang out at the Johannesburg airport because of our flight schedules and Prince was extremely accommodating. He made finding him at the airport unbelievably easy. We felt like we were friends with him the second we met him. He promised to expose us to the good, the bad, and the indifferent of the city and its people, and he most certainly delivered. A piece of our heart is left in Soweto and our eyes have been opened to the history of these beautiful people.

Professional and flexible - Marc was a wonderful guide. I booked the tour last minute. I received a confirmation text regarding the location and pick up time. Unfortunately, due to delayed luggage and the need to go clothes shopping, I had to cut the trip short but Marc was very accommodating and I felt I had a good overview despite the shorter tour.

A great full day tour encompassing the history of South Africa and Joberg! - This tour was a great way to get in all the history and sights that Joberg has to offer. While the sights were a bit heavy at times (quite sad…), I walked away with an understanding of South Africa’s history and how apartheid began and ended. I especially loved ending the day in Soweto.

Interesting sites - It was a great experience going to Constitutional Hill and see the Constitution Hall. Even as a South African I've never been. Also seeing the many sides of Soweto. Maybe a few things were a bit rushed. Could have used more time at the Apartheid Museum and also the Constitutional Hill. But definetly a trip I would recommend!
