Amazing Full Day Tour of Johannesburg - I ended up with a private solo tour of Johannesburg. Thabang was an amazingly knowledgeable and friendly tour leader, and make sure I didn't miss anything. We had a full day which included Constitutional Hill and the Old Fort / Prison. I joined a group tour of Section Four & Five as well as the Court. We visited Soweto, the local government housing where I was given a personal tour of the community and joined the local daycare children for snack time. We had a lovely buffet lunch (extra) and I then was given another private tour of Nelson Mandelas home. Our last stop on a very full day was the Hector Pieterson Memorial which was a self led tour. You cannot come to Johannesburg and not do this tour. The history, culture, and humanity must always be remembered. Thank you Thabang for making my first full day in Johannesburg so wonderful.

Enriching Tour of the City - Amazing tour in Johannesburg during my very short visit en route to Zambia. I very much enjoyed the entire tour, particularly the landmarks in Soweto, including the Nelson Mandela House and informal Soweto settlements. My guide Thabang was professional, friendly, and provided great narration of the history and culture of this amazing city and its colorful neighborhoods. He truly made me feel at ease. Would definitely recommend him and the tour.

Beware: Emotionally Draining! - The best experience of my trip to Joburg. Reading the stories and seeing depictions in movies does not prepare you for the clash of emotions this tour exposes you to - anger, pride, joy, melancholy, hope all come crashing down on you. The detailed depictions of the struggles of the people in new Johannesburg, the degradation dehumanization of Number Four, the hope in the Constitutional Court’s concept of “justice under a tree,” the display of.segregation and unjust imprisonment juxtaposed against the dreams of unity and reparation forged by the Truth & Reconciliation Commission will overwhelm you. The experience was made richer by the expert storytelling of my guide - Thabang. His knowledgeable descriptions of history of city, the establishment pf the townships and chronology of events made it easier for me to understand the entrenched racial and social structures the people struggled against as they fought for a better life.
