A Great Tour - The guide was very knowledgeable. He took photos of me at several stops. Traveling solo this was much appreciated. Aside from the included stops at The Apartheid Museum and Soweto, we also toured Nelson Mandela's Home and a tour of the town of Johannesburg. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I highly recommend it.

Brilliant tour & guide. Experience we won’t forget! - Nhlanhla was a brilliant tour guide (and his assistant, Witness!). His knowledge of Johannesburg and the history of South Africa is second to none. We learned so much on our half day course. It started with a tour around some the northern neighbourhoods, a quick stop to Nelson Mandela’s house (in his later life). We then spent a good time in the Apartheid Museum which was very moving. After that, we drove into Soweto township. What a vibrant and welcoming community! We had a short walk through Soweto to Nelson Mandela’s house. There was so much going on, music, dancing, amazing smells of food cooking! We visited Mandela’s house and then stopped in a local restaurant for a drink and to try some local food. So much is offered on the tour if you want to do it, it really is tailored to you. We then drove back to our hotel via the Soweto cooling towers. A day we will not forget!

Excellent! - Our tour with Thiya Tours was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we met our guide, he made us feel welcome, safe, and completely immersed in the spirit of Soweto and Johannesburg. He is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of South Africa, but he also shares it with such warmth and passion that you can’t help but be inspired. He took us to iconic landmarks as well as hidden gems we would never have discovered on our own, giving us a real and authentic feel of the city. His storytelling brought history to life, and his friendly personality made the day so much fun. We especially appreciated how attentive he was to our interests and how he went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly.

We got Lucky!!! - We really did get lucky! Lucky was our tour guide and he was AMAZING. Knowledgeable, friendly, kind, flexible, patient… when we wanted to stop and take a photo at an unscheduled place, he was happy to stop for us. That’s just one example. We loved the Apartheid Museum- definitely a must see if you’re in Pretoria or Johannesburg. And the drive through Soweto was fascinating. A great tour all around. Maybe you’ll get lucky too and get Lucky! I’d sign up for any tour he was doing .

Eye-opening tour of Shantytowns and Apartheid museum - Very knowledgeable and interesting guide. We spent 2.5 hours in the apartheid museum, and it wasn’t enough. Fascinating museum. The guide told us a lot about Soweto and the shantytowns.

Apartheid Museum and historical Soweto exploration. “Lucky” provided an excellent, knowledgeable, history of Apartheid, - “Lucky” was extremely knowledgeable, personable and engaging in our tour with him. I felt we left knowing so much more about the historical background of Apartheid and struggles faced by so many. The Apartheid Museum was amazing. Lucky was able to organize a private tour for us, which significantly impacted our experience.

Informative Tour. - We were very happy with our tour. Abe, our Guide, was very knowledgeable of the History, Community and Culture of Soweto. We were not rushed at the very well done Apartheid Museum and Hector Pierterson Memorial. Our coffee break was in the street where Mandella and Tutu both lived and we had time to visit both sites. Parts of Soweto are still 'shanty town', but the Govt has built many basic homes with water and power, hence improving life. We felt safe with our driver, Brian, who was very capable. We were picked up from our hotel at the JHB airport. A most informative and interesting morning. Thankyou.
