The journey to the Cradle of Humankind/Maropeng will take approximately 60 minutes from the hotel/Sandton.
During the trip, the tour guide will provide insights into South Africa’s history, covering early history, the union of South Africa, the apartheid era, and modern-day South Africa.
- Maropeng Visitor Centre - Our first stop is the Cradle of Humankind (Maropeng). A site guide will take over as per the new regulations, and we will enter the Maropeng Visitor Centre through a prehistoric mound (the Tumulus building). You will see fossils, learn about the origins of humankind, view stone tools up to one million years old, and much more. This self-guided, interactive tour allows you to explore humanity’s fascinating origin story at your own pace. Enjoy an exciting underground boat ride that takes you through the journey of life’s creation on the planet and mankind’s evolution, exiting into the 21st century! By approximately 10:15, we will head to Lesedi Cultural Village to join the 11:30 cultural dance performance welcome.

aha Lesedi Cultural Village - At Lesedi Cultural Village, after the 11:30 welcome session, you will visit five traditional villages: Xhosa, Zulu, Pedi, Basotho, and Ndebele. Experience traditional music and hear captivating stories from the people of Lesedi. Enjoy a traditional South African tribal gathering with some traditional dancing.
After the dance, proceed to the Nyama Choma restaurant. Nyama Choma means “Great African Feast,” and that’s exactly what you’ll experience! The restaurant offers a wide selection of African dishes, including crocodile and ostrich, and is divided into three themed areas: North Africa, East Africa, and South Africa. You’ll have plenty to discuss after a culturally enriching and fun day in Lesedi.
At approximately 13:30, we will head to Lion Park. -
Lion and Safari Park - The adventure continues after lunch as we proceed to the Lion and Safari Park. Enjoy thrilling 1-hour safari drives, observe lions in their natural habitat, and see how they interact with other animals. Spot giraffes, cheetahs, and more. You will also have the opportunity to feed the giraffe (optional: clients can purchase giraffe food for feeding).
The tour concludes at 15:30 with a return journey to your accommodation.

At the Cradle of Humankind Maropeng, the site guide will lead the way. Visitors will enter the Cradle through a prehistoric mound, embark on a boat ride that narrates the creation of life and human evolution, and emerge into the 21st century.
Lesedi Cultural Village features a cultural dance performance as part of its two-hour cultural tours, which are conducted daily from 11:30 AM. Guests are greeted with traditional dance and song. In addition to cultural tours, the village offers homestays.
The Lion & Safari Park hosts over 80 lions, including the rare white lions, along with other carnivores such as the South African cheetah, Cape wild dog, brown hyena, spotted hyena, black-backed jackal, and a diverse range of antelope that roam freely in the antelope area.
Visitors can enjoy self-drives, guided safaris, horseback safaris, quad biking, special tours, and trails. Little Rangers activities are also available. VBS includes a 1-hour guided safari.
