Shocking - The Apartheid Museum is very interesting, it shows the dark sides of apartheid in a neutral but still shocking way. The history from the beginning to the end. We took the tour with native South Africans who had immigrated to the states at a young age, and they were devastated to see the mayhem that had left. The museum is factual and worth a visit, its a must.-

Very illustrative of the apartheid times. Worth the visit. Inexpensive. - We started our South Africa visit here, resting for a day after the long trip from San Diego, California, we took the Hop On Hop Off tour bus, we got off at the Apartheid Museum and took our time around it. It is a well done illustration of how whites, blacks and 'colored' (including Malays, Indians, etc., were segregated. It also gave us an idea of how strong was Nelson's Mandela's influence in the process of mutual forgiveness rather than fighting among South Africans -very impressive.

TOUR OF SA WITH WILLY - Exploring Pretoria, Sandton, and Soweto with Willy over two days offers a rich tapestry of South African history, culture, and vibrant urban life. Traveling to Pretoria, the administrative capital, you’ll explore iconic sites such as the Union Buildings and the Voortrekker Monument. The architecture and gardens here are stunning, providing a picturesque backdrop for photos. Willy’s knowledgeable commentary enriches the experience, making history come alive. A walking tour led by Willy allows for an intimate exploration of Vilakazi Street, where both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu once lived. This area is vibrant with local culture, street vendors, and historical significance Willy’s tours are not just informative; they are engaging and personal. His passion for South African history shines through, making this two-day adventure an unforgettable journey through time and culture. Whether you’re exploring the affluent streets of Sandton or the historic heart of Soweto, this tour encapsulates the essence of South Africa beautifully.

Informative - I booked through Mount Zion Tours and didn't realize until our professional guide showed up at the house were staying in that it was a personal tour, just me and my wife! Fortunately our guide was very informative and helpful and after getting us there and getting the tickets he said we could do the visit on our own and at our own pace and he'd just wait for us! So we met up with him again in the cafe after a few hours of self-guiding around the exhibits, which suited us just fine. So although it was rather expensive it worked out well for us. But if you want to save some money, just get there by Uber, buy your own admission tickets, and take yourself around--it is all well labelled and explained. It is defintiely a valuable thing to fo when visiting Johannesburg.

Apartheid Museum Tour - Wished for more info on what and why, and the results. An exhibit of Nelson Mandela’s past and promotion of equality for all left me wanting more info. He had such an impact on the World, not simply South Africa. I felt they could have gone much mor in depth and continued into the results.

Needed more than 2 hours - I was a little disappointed that not all the history was presented. (There are always 2 sides to a pancake) While I was impressed with the amount of information, it was difficult to get around the building and I think I may have missed a few things.

The Apartheid Museum was great but... -
The Apartheid Museum was great but the tour was average as I was picked up in a personal car with a smashed windscreen and taken there. It didn't appear to be that professional for something booked through Viator!
