Great Guided Museum Experience - The apartheid museum was an incredibly worthwhile stop on our layover in Johannesburg. The museum is an incredible way to gain insight into the conditions most South Africans faced during apartheid. It’s certainly not an easy place to visit, but it’s necessary in gaining an understanding of South African history and culture. We could’ve spent a full day there; there’s a lot to see and to process. Our guide/driver was great—the level of insight he added to our experience was invaluable. It was great to hear gain insight and information from a local expert. We had people in our group who moved quickly and others who moved slowly, but he didn’t mind repeating the information so that everyone had the same experience.

Take enough time, there is so much important information! - Our guide Tsholo informed us about the total history of South Africa, which was great, because than you understand more about how things could happen in the past. The museum is amazing, great how it's been built up in a timetable, the variation in statues, written words and live views is fantastic. Keep your tissues within reach because nobody will walk out of this museum with dry eyes.

Great Apartheid Museum tour on short timeframe - Benale met me at the airport, where I arranged a long layover to allow me to see the Apartheid Museum. He drove me there and guided me through the museum while explaining some historical things that were above and beyond what was mentioned at the museum itself. He was very personable and professional and knowledgeable. He also shared some information about Johannesburg on the drive from the airport and on the return. Highly recommend! You will learn a lot.

Tour guide demonstrated cultural and historical expertise! - Tsholo, the guide was superb! His explanations were easy to understand and captured the historical and cultural perspectives that are critical for visitors to South Africa. His personal stories and experiences helped to educate us. He demonstrated an expertise in cultural tourism that international travellers need from local guides! He was also our guide on the Johannesburg and Soweto full day tour!

Incredible experience - Visiting this museum was an incredible experience, revealing the depth and complexity of Apartheid in South Africa. It goes into incredible detail to reveal the history leading up to and the causes of Apartheid, but then also immerses visitors into the experience with interactive and video exhibits. Booking with Stephenson Adventures was a great choice, the service from Tsholo was incredibly high quality and professional. I would highly recommend this to anyone considering it.

Excellant - I drove with Mo. He was excellent. Good driver, very careful and very knowledgeable on Johannesburg history, especially Sueto and the history of apartide. We visited Sueto and the museums on apertide. It was an eye opener and made me as a Canadian understand wh an upheaval S Africa went through ridding its self of apartide. Again thanks Mo, job well done Keith

Perfectly Balanced Tour - My guide was very knowledgable and patient to share plenty of information and answer my countless questions. I had time to roam by myself and also time to be guided. It was a great balance.

For those who want to delve deeper into South Africa. - We visited the museum with a guide on the first day. We went back the next day on our own to go through everything again. What information! What stories. Fascinating and educational exhibition of a terrible period. Highly recommended for those who want to explore South Africa.

Disappointed that the apartheid story was not told - I went expecting to be told about what life was like under the apartheid regime. I did not get much of that aspect. The exhibition was mainly about the leading figures with photos galore and some narrative, more paying homage to certain figures which while well deserved overshadowed gaining an understanding of how apartheid affected ordinary people's lives and if and how this has changed since those times.
