• Yangguan Historic Sites - At 8:30 am, an English-speaking guide will warmly greet guests in the hotel lobby to begin an exciting day. Guests will travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle to Yangguan, situated by a small oasis approximately 70 kilometers from downtown Dunhuang. By 9:30 am, the hiking adventure in Yangguan will commence. The hike covers about 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) from the entrance to the Yangguan Pass site. Along the journey, the stunning oasis will be visible before reaching Yangguan Pass, where visitors can obtain a “passport” from the governor as a keepsake and explore the Museum of Yangguan Pass. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local farmer’s restaurant, with an opportunity to visit the vineyard during the meal.
• Yumen Pass - In the afternoon, guests will be transported to Jade Gate Pass and the Han Dynasty Great Wall site (256 B.C. - 195 B.C.), which is about an hour away. Historically, the Han Dynasty constructed numerous walls to enhance frontier security and explore trade opportunities with the western region. Unlike other dynasties that used stones or bricks, the Han Dynasty Great Wall was built using locally abundant sand and weeds, layered together. Each layer typically measures between 4.7 to 5.9 inches (12 to 15 centimeters). The existing wall remnants range from 1.6 feet to over 6.6 feet in height. The tour concludes with a return to the Dunhuang hotel by 5:30 pm.
• Great Wall of Han Dynasty - The Great Wall of the Han Dynasty was constructed using locally available sand and weeds, layered together. Each layer generally measures between 4.7 to 5.9 inches (12 to 15 centimeters). The current wall remains vary in height from 1.6 feet to over 6.6 feet.

Embark on a private day-long hiking trip from your hotel in Dunhuang, traveling in a cozy, air-conditioned vehicle to Yangguan. On reaching, commence hiking for about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers), spanning roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the Yangguan Pass. Marvel at this significant pass of the ancient silk road and tour the Yangguan Pass Museum. A meal will be provided at a local farmer’s eatery. Post lunch, sightsee Jade Gate Pass and Han Dynasty’s great wall en route your return to Dunhuang.
