Once in a lifetime experience! - We had an excellent time on this tour set up by Steven. He came to our hotel to pick us up on time and we were brought to the meeting point in a clean, luxurious car. The private camel riding really was private, just my wife and I and a super cool local guide who owned the camels. We mounted the camels and crossed cemeteries, tundra and finally arrived at the dunes. There we had the opportunity to play around in the sand, get some great photos and feel really isolated and alone: there was no one else in sight! Amazing! Then we rode the camels back through a similar route and arrived to meet Steven who was waiting for us. In all, about a two hour trek (which really is enough time to spend on a camel), that includes amazing scenery and vibes. We spent ten days in China and this was certainly one of the highlights mostly because, unlike the camel riding at Crescent Spring which we observed, you are not with a group but completely alone, which really adds to the isolated and magical feeling of the desert. Highly recommended!

Very enjoyable - We initially wanted to go to the sand dunes for sunrise but it was cloudy so we went around 8.30am instead. Turned out to be a good choice as it wasn’t hot. There were so many camels!!! Not smelly at all despite the numbers. It was a very enjoyable ride and we gave our cameras to the guide that controlled the camels and paid him a small some of money .We were a group of 5. He took pretty good photos. There is also a professional photographer who will take a photo of you as you ride past a certain spot at the beginning of the journey. At the end of the ride these photos will de displayed at the entrance for you to have a look and decide if you wish to purchase it . You can also pay extra to go for the sand surfing at the top of the dunes before your ride back to the bottom. That was fun. This camel is a must when you visit Mingsha Shan
