Mogao Caves - These caves showcase rock-cut architecture made from soft gravel conglomerate, which is not ideal for sculpture or intricate architectural details.

Dunhuang to Jiayuguan

Jiayuguan Fortress - In the morning, enjoy a 5-hour bus or train journey to Jiayuguan, the western terminus of the Great Wall from the Ming Dynasty. Upon arrival, visit Jiayuguan Fort, known as The First Pass Under Heaven.

Xuanbi Great Wall - Next, ascend the Overhanging Great Wall, reconstructed in the 1980s on its original site, offering a spectacular view. Afterwards, you will be transferred to your hotel.
