Xi’an-Pingyao (L)

Ancient City of Pingyao - The driver will collect guests from their Xi’an city hotel lobby and transport them to the Xi’an Railway Station. Guests will board the morning train to Pingyao old town, with the bullet train journey taking approximately 3 hours.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by a friendly local tour guide and transferred to Pingyao old town to enjoy a delightful lunch at a local restaurant.

Pingyao Ancient Government Office - Accompanied by the tour guide, guests will embark on a walking tour of Pingyao Old City. Established during the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 – 771 BC) and reconstructed in 1370, Pingyao old city is one of China’s four best-preserved ancient cities. As visitors step into the city, the past comes alive. Ming Qing Street is lined with shops selling local handicrafts. Rishengchang showcases the grandeur of the first Chinese exchange shops. The ancient government office provides insights into the bureaucracy of the feudal society.

Pingyao Confucian Temple - If time permits, guests should not miss the Temple of City God, Confucius Temple, and various themed museums.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the old lifestyle and appreciate the charm of ancient China. They are welcome to discuss with their tour guide where they wish to explore in the old city.

Afterward, guests will be transferred to their accommodation in Pingyao.

Shuanglin Temple Pingyao - Xi’an / Beijing (L)

Wang’s Family Compound (Wang Jia Dayuan) - In the morning, the tour guide and driver will pick up guests from their hotel and proceed to the Wang Family Compound.

The Wang Family Compound is a luxurious residence constructed between 1762-1811 by the Wang Family descendants. It serves as both a residential architecture example and a museum of architectural art. The courtyard is adorned with stone, wood, and brick sculptures, showcasing refined and exquisite craftsmanship. There are 231 courtyards and 2,078 houses in total.

Shuanglin Temple - After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, guests will explore Shuanglin Temple on the outskirts of the ancient city. Known as the ‘ancient painted sculptures museum,’ Shuanglin Temple houses over 2,000 colorful sculptures, reflecting the artisans’ exquisite skills from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. In 1997, it was included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO as a significant cultural site of Ping Yao City.

Once the Pingyao tour concludes, the guide and driver will drop guests off at Pingyao Railway Station in the late afternoon.

Guests can choose to end their tour in Pingyao or return to Xi’an or head to Beijing.

Note: Guests will take the train independently, and the local English-speaking tour guide will meet them in Pingyao to guide them around the sites for two days.
