ADDIS ABABA to JINKA
Jinka - Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, guests will be greeted and assisted with their connecting flight to Jinka, departing at 12:30 PM. The flight is expected to arrive at Jinka Airport around 1:40 PM. A representative from Zulla Discovery will meet guests and transfer them to Jinka Resort for check-in, followed by lunch. For guests already in Addis Ababa, a Zulla Discovery representative will meet them at 11:00 AM to provide a briefing on the upcoming tour and assist with the flight to Jinka.
South Omo Research Centre Museum - In the afternoon, guests will visit the South Omo Ethnographic Museum and the Ari village. The Ari village is the largest and most fertile among the Omotic Ethnic Groups. It is believed that the Ari were the original ethnic group from which other groups in the Lower Omo Valley originated. Guests will learn about the culture and history of the Ari ethnic group.
JINKA to MURSI VILLAGE & back to TURMI
Mursi Village - After an early breakfast, guests will be transferred by road to Mursi village through Mago National Park, offering a great opportunity to see wildlife along the way. The Mursi people are known for their unique tradition of piercing and extending the lower lip to wear circular clay plates. The Mursi are famous for the lip plates worn by women, and they continue to practice rituals, rites of passage, and ceremonies passed down through generations. The most significant figures in Mursi society are the Komoru, or priest, and the Ngerre, or healer.
Turmi - After lunch at the lodge, guests will drive to Turmi, traveling through the countryside and observing the changing landscapes and local villages. The afternoon is at leisure.
TURMI & OMORATE
Omo National Park and River - Guests will depart early in the morning for Omorate, an hour’s drive away, followed by a river crossing of the Omo River in traditional dug-out canoes to visit the Dassenech people. The Dassenech are primarily agro-pastoralists, supplementing their income from livestock with crop cultivation on the flooded banks of the Omo River and fishing. After the visit, guests will return to the lodge for lunch.
TURMI to KONSO & ARBAMINCH
Konso - After an early breakfast, guests will depart at 7:00 AM for the city of Arbaminch by road. Along the way, they will visit one of the many walled villages of the Konso people. The Konso landscape is a UNESCO site located in a dry, hilly environment at the edge of the Rift Valley in southern Ethiopia. This relatively isolated area has remained largely unchanged for at least 400 years. The Konso people live in closely-packed communities of wood-and-mud thatched dwellings and travel out daily to tend their fields.
Chamo Lake - In the afternoon, guests will enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo, part of the Nech Sar National Park, located between the rift valley lakes of Chamo and Abaya. Nech Sar National Park is one of the most visited safari parks in Ethiopia. After experiencing the abundant wildlife the lake offers, guests will transfer to Paradise Lodge for check-in and dinner.
ARBAMINCH
Arba Minch Town - Guests can spend the morning at leisure at the lodge or explore the 40 springs in the immediate area.
Dorze Village - In the afternoon, guests will depart Arba Minch to visit the village of the Dorze people, renowned for their intricately woven bamboo huts and traditional clothing. Weaving is a primary occupation for many Dorze, and their colorful textiles are considered the best in Ethiopia. The Dorze weaving skills are also evident in their beehive-shaped huts, which resemble the face of an elephant. Guests will immerse themselves in the Dorze culture, including the making of Kotcho, a pizza-like bread made from False Banana, and enjoy cultural dances. The return drive to Arba Minch offers a beautiful sunset view, as Dorze is situated on a hill overlooking lakes Abaya and Chamo.
ARBAMINCH to ADDIS
Addis Ababa - Guests can enjoy a leisurely morning before transferring to Arbaminch Airport for their departure flight to Addis Ababa at 3:15 PM, arriving at 4:20 PM for their connecting flight home.
