Juguanglou - Guests will be picked up from their hotel around 7 AM and transported to Xiamen Wutong Wharf. From there, they will enjoy a luxurious ferry ride to Kinmen Shuitou Commercial Port. Upon arrival, the first stop is JUGUANG TOWER. Constructed in 1952, this magnificent three-story structure was designed by the esteemed architect Sheng Xue-hai. The tower boasts a grand appearance and an impressive atmosphere. Inside, visitors can explore exhibition halls that showcase documents and materials related to the history and current status of Kinmen.
Zhaishan Tunnel - Entering Zhaishan Tunnel, visitors are sure to be awestruck by its vastness. This tunnel is a significant remnant of Taiwan’s military history. It was constructed to provide refuge from mainland China’s bombings during the 1958 shelling of the island. The 101 m (331 ft) long tunnel, built entirely of granite, was the sole supply route to the island’s defenders. Construction began in 1958 and continued non-stop for three years until completion. The tunnel’s water channel, which is 357 m (1,171 ft) long, can accommodate 42 small boats and is an engineering marvel. It was abandoned in 1986 due to sediment buildup.
Kinmen National Park - Next, visitors will proceed to Kinmen National Park, Taiwan’s first national park dedicated to preserving historic and cultural relics, including battlefield monuments. In the 16th century, Japanese pirates frequently attacked Kinmen, prompting the government to fortify the island with defenses. Since 1949, Kinmen has been a battleground between the Chinese Communist forces and the Kuomintang. Notable battlefield relics include the Guningtou Battle Museum and the August 23rd Artillery Battle Museum. Afterward, guests will enjoy dinner and be transferred to their hotel.
