Jerusalem & Bethlehem Christmas Eve to Watch Midnight Mass on Screen, Held at the Church of the Nativity
Jerusalem - After hotel pick-up at 15:30 pm, stop at Mount Scopus for a magnificent view of the illuminated Old and New cities. Drive through the New City, passing by the Knesset, Israel’s parliament house, and the Israel Museum. Enter the Old City through Jaffa Gate and the local bazaar, follow the steps of Jesus along the Via Dolorosa, and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Bethlehem - Christmas in Bethlehem’s Manger Square is one of the most iconic settings for celebrating Christmas Eve. Bethlehem, the Palestinian town where Jesus was born, is located in the West Bank, just a few minutes south of Jerusalem. While entering the Church of the Nativity is not possible, watching performances on the large stage in Manger Square, along with other surrounding activities, and soaking in the unique Christmas atmosphere, is a powerful experience.
At around 20:00, proceed to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. Walk through Manger Square, enjoying the festive Christmas decorations illuminating the city’s main square and the Church of the Nativity.
Stop at a local restaurant specially decorated for the holidays and enjoy a festive Christmas dinner. Watch the Midnight Mass broadcast live on TV. If the mass is broadcast on screens at Manger Square (subject to Palestinian authority’s approval), proceed to the spot.
Free Day in Jerusalem
Jerusalem - Enjoy breakfast at your hotel in Jerusalem. In the Old City, head to the Via Dolorosa and watch pilgrims from around the world walk this famous route with the cross of Christ over their shoulders, made even more special with the Christmas atmosphere.
Western Israel - Caesarea, Haifa, Rosh Hanikra & Akko
Caesarea National Park - Early morning pick-up from your hotel in Jerusalem. Start the full-day tour of Caesarea, Haifa, Rosh Hanikra, and Akko. Drive along the coastal highway to Caesarea, a city where the past and future converge. While new Caesarea boasts magnificent modern homes, ancient Caesarea offers tourists the ruins of unique, impressive buildings. A tour of the national park is like walking through a story, and wandering between the ancient buildings, one can sense how people lived here thousands of years ago and enjoy modern experiences, such as the enthralling musical performances held in the beautiful Roman Theater.
The Baha’i Gardens - Next, proceed to Haifa, the highlight of this tour. As Israel’s third-largest city and one of its prettiest, Haifa offers much to visitors. It has Israel’s largest port, a particularly active beach, and is home to the World Center of the Bahai Faith. The Bahai’s originated in the Bab sect, which separated from Iran’s Shi’ite Islam in 1844. The Bahai World Center, an expansive and well-designed complex on the slope of the Carmel, is famous for its magnificent gardens. It includes the exquisitely landscaped “Hanging Gardens,” which run about a kilometer along the Louis Promenade until Ha-Gefen Street. At the center is the impressive, gold-domed Shrine of the Bab, the burial place of the Bab, the founder of the faith. One can enjoy enchanting spots while strolling through the beautiful gardens by day, but with special lighting, an evening visit provides equal pleasure and a peaceful, romantic atmosphere.
Rosh Hanikra - Continue via Naharia to Rosh Hanikra. The gleaming white cliffs of Rosh Hanikra and the beautiful stretch of beach below are a magnificent sight to behold. The real excitement begins when you board the cable car for your two-minute ride down the 210-foot cliff.
Acre - The last visit is in Acre, also known as Akko. Acre’s walls, fortresses, castles, churches, mosques, synagogues, and other structures tell the story of the many rulers who governed, fought for, built, and adorned the city. Visiting Acre is an emotional journey to a glorious past and a unique experience, an exciting visit to an ancient city with a young soul – a city declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Return transfer after the tour to your hotel in Tel Aviv. Check-in to your hotel in Tel Aviv and enjoy your evening.
Nazareth, Sea of Galilee & Jordan River Baptismal Site
Nazareth - Pick-up from your hotel in Tel Aviv after breakfast. Head to Northern Israel. The destination is Nazareth, Tabgha, Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, and the Jordan River Yardenit.
The first gem of your tour will be Nazareth, a city of religion and faith, spirituality and holiness, but also a city with a rich history, fascinating archaeology, modern culture, and Middle Eastern charm. Nazareth, which began as a small Jewish village about 2,000 years ago, became a stronghold of Christianity in the Byzantine period, just a few hundred years later. During that period, the name of Nazareth spread far and wide, and the yearnings to see the place where the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ had lived turned the city into a popular pilgrimage site. Visit the Church of Annunciation and the Church of St. Josef.
Capernaum - After Nazareth, continue through Kana to Tiberias, Sea of Galilee. Drive along Kineret Lake to visit Capernaum.
Tabgha - Next, visit Tabgha, located at the foot of the Golan Heights, the site of the miracle of fish and loaves.
Yardenit - Proceed to Yardenit, situated on the banks of the Jordan River, flowing from the Sea of Galilee. The baptismal site of Yardenit welcomes over half a million tourists and pilgrims annually who come to experience the spirituality and pastoral beauty of the waters of the River Jordan, where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
According to the Christian faith, the Jordan River Yardenit is considered the third most holy site in the Holy Land, just after the Nativity Grotto in Bethlehem and Golgotha in Jerusalem, because it is the site of the most important event of Jesus’ life – his baptism and the beginning of his ministry. The site offers 12 separate baptismal pools, enabling different groups to comfortably conduct private worship ceremonies. Return transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv after the tour.
