Highlights

Amazing Jeju Island UNESCO

Hamdeok Beach - Hamdeok Beach is also known as ‘Hamdeok Seoubong Beach’ due to the nearby Seoubong Peak.

Manjanggul Cave - Manjanggul Cave is estimated to have formed between 100,000 and 300,000 years ago, while Jeju Island itself formed around 1.8 million years ago. This lava tube stretches approximately 7.4 km and features a multi-layered structure in some parts. Originally connected to Gimnyeongsa Cave, Field Cave, and Gaeu Jet Cave, it is believed that the ceiling collapse caused their separation. The main passage of Manjanggul Cave is 18m wide and 23m high, making it one of the largest lava tubes globally. While there are many lava tubes worldwide, those like Manjanggul, which have preserved their internal shapes and topography for hundreds of thousands of years, are rare and hold significant academic and conservation value.

Manjanggul Cave has three entrances formed by a collapsed ceiling. Currently, only the second entrance is open to the public, allowing exploration of just 1km of the cave.

Seongsan Ilchulbong - Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak on Jeju Island is a vast crater standing 180m tall and covering an area of 2.64㎢. It is the second most popular tourist spot on Jeju Island after Hallasan Mountain. Recognized as a Biosphere Reserve in 2002, a World Natural Heritage site in 2007, and a Global Geopark in 2010, Seongsan Ilchulbong is the only place in the world to have received three UNESCO natural science awards.

From the observatory, visitors can view Udo Island, the haenyeo performance hall, the boat yard, and the Umutgae Coast, offering stunning vistas from any angle. The area is also home to uniquely shaped rocks, including Deunggyeongdol Rock, which is tied to a legend about Seolmundae grandmother. Hiking trails allow visitors to explore this legendary area up close.

Seopjikoji - Unlike other Jeju coasts, Seopjikoji is characterized by red volcanic rock formations. When waves crash in, the uniquely shaped submerged rocks create a natural spectacle. The area is also known for its blooming rapeseed flowers in spring and silver grass in autumn. It offers beautiful coastal views, including Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and is a popular filming location for famous dramas like Eyes of Dawn and All In.

Jeju Seopjikoji is renowned for its clear waters and stunning scenery, with a legend claiming a fairy once bathed here. Scientifically, it offers insights into volcanic activity, making it an educational experience as well.

Eco Land Theme Park - This theme park allows visitors to explore the forest by train, with four stations to disembark and explore.

Sangumburi Crater - Sangumburi Crater is approximately 100m deep and over 600m in diameter. The outer circumference is 2,067m, the inner circumference is 756m, and the crater forms a conical cliff with a height of 100 to 146m, covering an area of about 8,000 pyeong. The surrounding ground is flat at 400m high, with a hill reaching up to 438m to the south of the crater. It is a Maar-type crater.

Wonderful Places in the West and South of Jeju Island

Eoseungsaengak - Eoseungsaengak is a popular oreum for those seeking a light climb. The area is well-preserved and serves as a nature learning trail.

Mysterious Road (Dokkaebi Road) - This road is famous for its optical illusion where cars appear to roll uphill when parked on a downhill slope. The phenomenon is due to a 3-degree slope that creates the illusion of an uphill climb. This unique feature has turned it into a popular tourist attraction, and safety measures are being added to prevent accidents. A tourist park is also planned for the area.

Segowipo Maeil Olle Market - Seogwipo Daily Olle Market is a traditional market in the heart of Seogwipo City and a must-visit on any Jeju trip. It is the largest and oldest permanent market in Seogwipo-si, playing a significant role in the local economy by attracting both residents and tourists year-round. Here, you can find Jeju specialties like Omegi rice cakes, tangerines, hallabongs, jade fish, silver cutlassfish, and black pork.

Jeongbang Waterfall - Jeongbang Waterfall is one of Jeju Island’s three major waterfalls, along with Cheonjeyeon and Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls. It stands 23m high, 8m wide, and 5m deep, and is the only waterfall in Korea that flows directly into the sea. Located a 15-minute bus ride from downtown Seogwipo, visitors can reach the waterfall after a 5-minute walk from the ticket office. The waterfall’s mist creates a Milky Way effect in the sunlight, and the sound of the falling water can be heard from afar. The surrounding vertical rock walls feature well-developed columnar joints.

Oedolgae - Oedolgae in Seogwipo is a 20m high and 7-10m wide stone pillar formed by wave erosion of a volcanic lava field. The name Oedolgae means ‘lone rock’ in the sea. Designated as Scenic Beauty No. 79 in 2011, along with Sanbangsan Mountain and Soesokkak, Oedolgae is also known as ‘General Rock’ and ‘Grandma Rock,’ each with its own legend.

After visiting Oedolgae, you can take a leisurely walk along the beautifully designed promenade to Seonnyeotang on Hwanguji Coast and view Saeseom Island and Saeyeongyo Island from afar.

Great trip in Jeju - We had a wonderful 2 full days private tour with Mr John Kim as our driver. He was patient with us as we tried covering as much as we can with the short stay we had in Jeju. This is our first trip and there are so many beautiful places to see. He is experienced and thoughtful, walk with us a short distance at each place of interests. Gave brief introduction of the place of interest though his English is limited. He brought us to nice and reasonably priced eateries for lunch. Those are the best lunches we had throughout our 9 days trip to Jeju and Seoul. Highly recommended and see you again Mr Kim. Thank you for making our trip in Jeju so memorable. 🫶

Best driver to book for a trip to Jeju - Mr Kim is an excellent driver / guide that recommends you to many attractive and MUST GO locations in Jeju. He is able to converse in simple english so we did not have any issues regarding any questions or our conversations. He ensures that we are comfortable throughout our trip and goes the extra mile to provide the best service to the point that we had no issues entrusting him with our trip itinerary and following his recommended travel locations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to book Mr Kim whenever you are looking for an experienced and friendly driver that can bring you around Jeju for the duration of your stay.

Wonderful experience! Highly recommend! - Our tour guide/driver, John, was great! He was very punctual and also very flexible with our family’s schedule (as we were traveling with two children). John provided us with an excellent tour of Jeju highlights, offered helpful suggestions and customized the whole experience based on the things we wanted to do and see. He also did a great job taking family photos to capture the special memories. The whole experience removed all of my stress of trying to plan activities for my family so that we could all just relax together and enjoy the beautiful island of Jeju. Highly recommend!

Nothing but fantastic and enjoyable. - Mr Kim is amazing! Provide us with water the minute we board his taxi. Comfortable ride throughout, punctual, patient and recommended local dish which he personally felt was way better than the ones we wanted to go to. No regrets engaging his service. Simple English and fuss free driver! High Recommended!!!!!

Friendly and safe driver - Our driver/guide was Mr Kinu Kim. He was very punctual and sent me a message the day before our private tour. Unfortunately he speaks limited English and I found it hard to understand him. He was not able to explain the places of interests and pointed us to read from the explanation boards at each destination. Nonetheless, he was friendly, helpful and took us to nice lunch venues based on our food preference. He also took good pictures for us along the way.
