It represents Indonesia’s status as the country with the largest Muslim population. Inside, admire the mosque’s beautiful design and interior, which can accommodate 200,000 people. Note that the mosque is closed every Friday for religious purposes.
- Jakarta Cathedral - Located opposite Istiqlal Mosque, this neo-Gothic church was built during the colonial era and features European architecture. Together with the mosque, it symbolizes Indonesia’s unity in diversity. Note that on Sundays, Mass may prevent entry, so visits might be limited to the exterior.
- National Monument (MONAS) - The National Monument is Indonesia’s iconic landmark, standing 132 meters tall as a symbol of the nation’s spirit in fighting colonialism. This stop includes a short walk and photo opportunities. Note that the monument is closed every Monday for maintenance, restricting access to the park area.
- State Elementary School Menteng 01 Pagi - This is the school where Barack Obama studied as a child from 1969 to 1971. A statue of young Obama stands here. During school days (Monday to Friday), you can go inside, meet the students, and observe local activities. On weekends, the school is closed, so visits are limited to viewing the statue.
