A fantastic and genuine experience led by a most knowledgeable guide. - My wife, adult daughter and I had a private tour, driven and guided by Ilaria. She picked us up at our hotel and took us first to a Parmigiano factory that was about a hour away. We donned protective gowns and went right on the factory floor. Ilaria took us step by step through the entire cheese making process. We moved at our own pace, without any time pressure. Then, we had a taste of this cheese at various ages. We left the cheese factory and drove 40 minutes to a private villa that also produced Balsamic vinegar. We were greeted with wine/coffee and then led upstairs to the Balsamic aging room. Every step of the process was explained by staff. Then we went downstairs to a dining room for a wonderful lunch. We were greeted by the owner, who described what we would be having and offered the recipe. Our final stop was at a Prosciutto factory. Once again, Ilaria led us through the factory’s floors and explained everything. We stood about four feet from a worker putting lard on hams by hand to seal them. This tour was a fantastic experience! Everything we experienced was genuine; not a put-on show for tourists. It turned out that Ilaria owned this particular tour company and it’s called “Bologna Gourmet.” We are “foodies” and believe this tour company’s name says it all. I very highly recommend this tour, which was worth every penny!

Food tour with Ilaria. - Our day spent with Ilaria left us with many special memories of Bologna’s prosciutto, Parmesan, and balsamic vinegar highly regarded production process. Everywhere we stopped, the estate and factory owners /managers welcomed us with personable hospitality. Ilaria made great effort to also explain life in the countryside as our tour moved. It was a great day and highly recommend.

Modena Belisimmo - Ilaria, our guide and driver was excellent. She is knowledgeable with a deep knowledge of the regions around Bologna. We were picked up by Hotel Touring. The parmigiana experience at a local farm was excellent. Wish we could get there early enough to see the renin added to the milk. Tasting of aged parmigiana was very good. The balsamic vineyard experience was eye opening. The lunch with the pairing with charcuterie and then risotto was very good. So we decided to to buy aged balsamic. After a food coma, we visited a prosciutto aging plant. Never seen so many legs of ham hanging to be cured. I would do it again with friends.

The best of food near Bologna - This is a wonderful tour of how the best food in Italy (imho best in the world) is made. You have the chance to tour a creamery making Parmesan and ricotta, a farm that produces balsamic vinegar, and a meat processing plant where they are making prosciutto. The guide is extremely knowledgeable about the local food, and the area around Bologna. Included is the opportunity to try and purchase, cheese, vinegar, and prosciutto. Unfortunately we were not able to bring the prosciutto back to the United States, but we did bring back excellent Parmesan and balsamic vinegar. Lunch is included, and you get to have an excellent home cooked meal in an old farmhouse. The food is excellent and the vinegar the best I have ever had. We also got to meet and talk with the owner of the farmhouse during lunch. (The farmhouse also had a cool old Lamborghini tractor out front.) All of the people we talked with were passionate and clearly loved the food they make. If you like Italian food and want to know how it is made, this tour is well worth the time and money.

Amazing Food & Italian Culture experience!! - We had an amazing experience with Bologna Gourmet! Our guide, Ilaria, was warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the region’s food culture. We began with a fascinating visit to a Parmigiano Reggiano producer, gaining a new appreciation for this iconic cheese. Next, we visited a beautiful villa in Modena, where we learned about traditional balsamic vinegar production on a family estate. The tasting, followed by a delicious lunch, was unforgettable. We ended the day with a tour of Bologna and its lively food market. A perfect day of food, culture, and history—highly recommend Ilaria and Bologna Gourmet!

Ilaria was very... - Ilaria was very knowledgeable and added good insights prior to getting to the different venues. She also quickly put all 3 of us at ease. It was great to see and finally understand why these products are so pricey back home and more importantly to experience and appreciate the pride & craftsmanship behind the products.
