BEST PART OF MY TRIP TO ITALY! - Want to do something unique and unforgettable while you are in Italy? Then book this excursion! Fabio is fantastico and really cares about making sure you have the best possible experience! He picked us up from the train station on time and exactly where he said he would be! The drive is beautiful and pleasant. The hike up to the cassel is a nice little workout, but SO worth it! Make sure you wear good nonslip shoes and bring sunscreen. Everything was amazing from the food, the scenery, the fresh air, the shops, to Fabio's guidance and knowledge about the Abruzzo area! This is a hidden gem, sure to become a famous spot quickly, so go now while it is still a best kept secret of Italy!

Excellent semi private tour in the beautiful region of Abruzzo - Great semi private day trip to a beautiful region in Italy. This is not the typical "Industrial" 35 to 55 people day trips in busses or train. Fabio the owner and guide is a local that lives in the Abruzzo region and fell in love with the region's scenery, tranquility and food. He has a background and career in the hospitality business around the world and he will go out of his way to guarantee that you will have a good time. The trip is a maximum of 6 people traveling in his van. The day we traveled we were a group of 4 people. Fabio knows a lot about the region's history and will be filling you with details all along the way and in the places you will visit. Because the Abruzzo region is not very promoted as a touristic destination, you will find, mostly locals along the way visiting the same places. You will see that Fabio is caring person and will add flexibility into the trip to tailor it to what the group wants. We found a herd of horses pasturing along the route in Campo Imperatori and we stopped to interact and take pictures. We also found a flock of sheep and their lambs that were crossing the road. The views and the history of the high castle Rocca Calascio are breathtaking. Fabio as a local, will go as high as possible with the car avoiding a super steep and long climb, you still need to hike and climb a bit but with no pressure. You want to go all the way and climb up to the castle and even the three flors inside the castle (recommended if you feel like you can do it) with Fabio then perfect, If not you can wait for 5 to 10 minutes at the point you feel comfortable to the part of the group that went all the way up to the castle. The lunch is at a local butchery and deli with a nice concept that sells you the all the ingredients for your picnic and deals with the preparation of the grill for you so you can come, grill your meats and eat them later at one of their outdoor tables with all the other goodies (pickled vegetables, salami and pecorino cheese, bread and good local wine). Fabio will call the Deli ahead when leaving Rome so all the food is ready when you arrive and he takes care of everything, including a nice espresso to finish the meal. Then you finish the day touring the village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio a 900 year old village with some locals still living there and an entrepreneur and investor buying the empty houses and converting them as part of an hotel that could be a good option to stay for people that like the "Medieval Times" experience with a preserved old osteria with medieval artifacts. The rown is very old and in a hill. We went through an alleyway that is so narrow that you need to pass it sideways. You have some time to buy local souvenirs, food or liquor before you begin your way back to Rome. All in all a great days trip with a caring and knowledgeable guide that calls the tour "his project" and again will go out of his way to assure you enjoy the day. He even offered to help in case we needed a local at any time during the rest of our journey in Italy.

Day trip from Rome to heaven - Abruzzo is an unspoiled region where you can admire beautiful animals and landscapes. As a day trip option, it was fantastic, rich but not extremely tiring. I recommend it!

A hidden gem, perfect addition to Rome area touring - Our your guide, Fabio, was really exceptionally good. He was enthusiastic, he managed the group well, and he ensured everyone was able to enjoy all parts of the tour. The area around and at the Rocca was just beautiful. Our lunch was excellent. And Santo Stefano di Sessanio was a great last part of our journey. I recommend this to everyone.

I absolutely recommend this tour! - My family and I (me, my husband, and teenage son) had an amazing time touring Abruzzo with Fabio. The scenery, castle, and towns were breathtaking- like out of a fairytale. The barbecue was delicious. Abruzzo is truly an authentic hidden gem. Fabio is a gem, as well- he is so kind, informative, accommodating, thoughtful, and just wonderful. I absolutely recommend this tour!

Great trip to the mountains! - Great trip with Fabio! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about Abruzzo. Lunch was amazing as we cooked our own local favorites in the mountains. Rocca Calascio was even better than I imagined. San Stefano was also quite the picturesque village. This trip is a great break from the craziness of Rome and Fabio is so easy to talk to I feel like I have made a new friend.

Fantastic day seeing hidden gems. - After three days touring the sights in Rome, we decided to escape the crowds and heat by taking a day trip to the Abruzzo region of Italy. It was a spontaneous decision and it turned out to be a very good one. Fabio was our guide and he was excellent. His passion for the region shown through as he brought us to campo imperatore, Rocca Calascio and Santo Stefano di Sessanio. A little history, a little culture, and a great deal of scenic beauty made for a great, relaxing day. And the BBQ with local food was fantastic!

Wonderful trip to take a break from busy Rome - This was a wonderful trip. It was easy to find the pickup location and everything went smoothly. All three locations were amazing! We were able to get a very small hike in to see some horses in Campo Imperatore. Lunch was at a little butcher that had all local food and we grilled our own meet and had a picnic in the National Park. The visit to Rocca Calascio was very special for me and Fabio made sure I had plenty of time to explore. The last stop at San Stefano was great too, a very picturesque little village. Fabio is a great guide with lots of information and so friendly. I feel like I made a new friend!

Most Amazing Part of my Italian Vacation! - Wow! This trip was one of the coolest things I have ever done! Fabio is incredible and planned out the trip meticulously so that we can get the most out of the wonderful region of Abruzzo. Such a special trip made amazing by how enthusiastic, accommodating, and knowledgable Fabio is. The places we went were so unique and beautiful. On the way back to Rome I remarked how sad I was to leave Abruzzo! I will remember this trip forever and plan to recommend it to anyone I know visiting Italy. Thanks again Fabio!
