  • Iuvanum Archaeological Park and Museum - In the Maiella National Park, you can follow the Sentiero dei Monti Carricini. As you wander through the woods, you’ll encounter megalithic walls from the Italian era, surrounded by vibrant vegetation. In spring, you’ll also find various wild orchids. After a brief panoramic break on the crest of Monte di Maio, we’ll proceed to the Il Mulino farmhouse, where we’ll enjoy a tasting of cold cuts, cheeses, and locally produced specialties. Participants will have the chance to actively participate in making traditional cheese. After meeting the farm animals, we’ll head a short distance to the Juvanum archaeological site.
    Duration: The activity lasts a total of 8 hours.
    Elevation gain: 200 m.
    Distance: 7 km.
    Hours: from 09:00 to approximately 16:00.
    Difficulty: The trail is suitable for hiking, with a mixed route that is partly wooded and partly open. No special technical skills or physical preparation for walking are required. The trail is also suitable for children aged 8 and up.
    Equipment: Shoes with good tread, layered clothing, water, hat, sunscreen, and a snack.

Additional Information

I was born and raised in these places, my ancestors already lived here as did the family that owns the farmhouse that hosts us. Over the years we have carried out agricultural activities that have expanded rural knowledge. The profession of hiking guide has taught me how to best narrate my territory. A day as a Shepherd is an immersion in uncontaminated places and with boundless landscapes, full of ancient and authentic history. It will be possible to rediscover flavors and sensations that are now far from everyday life. Making a cheese with your own hands and with the milk milked from the animals that live a few meters away strengthens the relationship with the territory and the experience, from which you can also take home the piece of cheese you made!!

  • Children from the age of 8 can participate in the activity. minors under 18 cannot consume alcohol during the tasting
