A relaxing tour away from the crowds - This was one of our favorite tours during our trip to Greece this September. Nafplio is about two hours away from Athens. As such, we weren't crushed by tourists as we were at the Acropolis, or in Santorini or Mykonos.
We explored the beautiful old Greek capital at our own leisure and enjoyed a delicious authentic Greek lunch (that's not included in the price so you can choose what dishes you want). Afterwards, we explored the ruins of an old Venetian fortress that overlooks the city (entrance fee was 8 euros). Be warned, like most attractions in Greece, you'll need the sure-footedness of a mountain goat. But the climb was worth the view.
On the way to Nafplio we stopped at the Corinth Canal. This is not an ancient engineering marvel, but it gave everyone a restroom break and a reason for detailed explanation of the area's biblical history by our guide. Paul's letters to the Corinthians were addressed to the people that lived here.
After this quick stop, we headed to the Nemea region, which is the largest wine-growing area in southern Greece. We had a detailed tour of the Semeli Estate and its wine-making operation. And for 19 euros per person, we sampled four different (very good) wines (and cheese) at this very classy winery. There is a more expensive tasting package that includes more wines, but as this was before lunch, we thought we go easy on the fruit of the vine.
Our guide was Manos Grizas, who planned this packaged tour, was driving his Mercedes (yes, it's a yellow taxi but it's a very comfortable, roomy Mercedes) and treated us like distant American family visiting Greece for the first time (which we were).
In fact, when one of our party discovered afterwards at the hotel that his cell phone had fallen out of his pocket in the car, a WhatsApp text to Manos was almost instantly answered by a phone call, even though he was on his way home at 7 pm.
I cannot recommend this tour (and the guide) enough.

Take This Tour - Manos provides a pleasant and informative guide to the canal, a winery and Nafplio. He was on time, accessible and the luxury of being driven around in a car - not a bus - was very relaxing. Manos is knowledgeable about history, wine, worthwhile areas, restaurants etc. I will be back in Greece in two years and plan on contacting him for tours with my adult children. Do not hesitate to take the tour.

Relaxing and interesting day! - Our guide Eirini was very nice and knowledgeable of everything about Greece and the area. All of the stops - Corinth canal, the vineyard, the fortress, and Nafplio - were excellent and a nice change of pace from other sites. The vineyards people, facility, and wine tasting was especially enjoyable. The Mercedes vehicle was very comfortable. Overall, a relaxing and interesting day! Highly recommend!

Learning and loving Athens countryside. - Excellent tour of the areas west of Athens including the Corinth Canal with a guide Manos who was well versed in Greek history and culture. A civilization well ahead of the rest of the world. Capped off with a good strenuous walk inside the fortress and a couple hours for shopping and lunch in Napfoli. With a final hour or two wine tasting. Get outside the city and see the countryside.

A Worthwhile Trip! - Irene was great! Naturally, in seeing so much of grease, you spend a lot of time in the car – but with Irene, she made the journey so enjoyable. We talked about the history of Greece, the unique aspects of each region, and even Greek culture. A really cool way to learn more and see more of Greece. The winery was absolutely beautiful.

Incredible tour & guide - don’t miss it! - Don’t book large group tours - book this tour where you have your own private guide and very comfortable vehicle. We visited the canal on our way to a beautiful winery which offered unparalleled views of the mountain ranges, the wine was very impressive, and service second to none. We then continued to Nafplio for free time. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and Greek history and we both enjoyed the commentary throughout the drive. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour.

Great customized day trip with helpful driver! - We did a day trip to Mycenae and Napflio, and then did some wine tasting on the way home. The best part was that we could customize the day the way we wanted. Our driver Giorgos was great. He had tons of information and never rushed us.

Exceptional tour with an even more exceptional guide- hats off to Manos! - We had an incredible experience.
Pickup was a breeze, and our driver Manos went out of his way to ensure it was convenient and worry free for us. He was able to answer all of our questions and then some, and we learned so much about Greek history and culture. Manos added color to every site we passed, and it was such an incredible way to pass the 2 hours to Nafplio.
The Corinth canal was impressive, as was the fortress in Nafplio. We had the chance to really explore the grounds, and Manos never made us feel rushed.
After a delicious (best food of the trip delicious) meal and the chance to meander the streets, we headed to a winery for a truly wonderful experience with quality wine and excellent company.
Manos was SO accommodating, in fact, that he was willing to extend our trip and show us an additional historical site that was meaningful for us. It made for a truly special and memorable experience.
10/10 recommend. Thankful for the opportunity to learn from Manos!

Nafplio, you stole my heart! <3 - You’re in good hands with Manos! His descriptions and explanations of what you’re about to experience really ties everything together. Manos is also super accommodating to any reasonable request. I’m no sommelier, but those wines were bomb af! I was in awe standing over the canal. Wow!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WONDERFUL TOUR! - My husband and I booked this tour last minute and it ended up being one of our favorites from our 3 weeks in Greece! The town of Nafplio alone is worth the trip, but the wine tasting and the Corinth Canal are the bonus. But the best thing about this trip was our driver, George. He was extremely knowledgable, friendly and just an absolute gem of a person that we cannot recommend him highly enough! Thank you George for making our trip so memorable, hope to see you again one day!
