You need a guided tour to get the most of your time in the city - Istanbul can be a bustling city, having a knowledgeable guide to steer you in the right direction, jump all the queues and give you insight into the history and you walk through the city is a major plus. Big groups are cheaper but a waste of time in my experience. With our fantastic guide Kamal, we had personal attention and could dictate our own pace and linger longer or go faster where we wanted. We stopped for a brilliant lunch based on his suggestion when our feet got tired, something you cannot do in a big tour

Amazing private day tour in Istanbul - The tour with Ege was great. He is very knowledgeable in in his history of Istanbul and keeps things interesting with his fun stories throughout the day. The driver showed up on time and we were able to adjust to the order of places visited and lengthen/shorten the stops as we wanted. Overall great experience with Ege and would definitely recommend!

Great sites. BE AWARE OF SALES TACTICS - We covered a lot of the highlights in one day. Istanbul’s Old Centre is amazing. Our tour guide Volkan was experienced and knowledgeable which we greatly appreciated - on a less positive note, he was very opinionated, especially reg the “place” of women where they are “supposed” to be in society and a family setting. I decided early on not to ruin the day by engaging in a discussion of different opinions. As a tour guide, I would hope that they show tolerance towards different cultures/ religions / progress in society and point of views while sharing their own. We disliked the fact that we were “encouraged” to buy with different vendors ( highly overpriced as there seems to be incentives for the tour guides in return ) and overpriced, non-authentic restaurants to dine in a tourists’ expense. We consider ourselves educated but felt uncomfortable to keep pushing back on those issues. The tour started at 10:30am and he seemed eager to be done by 3pm. Overall, great historic spots but could have been more enjoyable with less sales tactics. Tour $185 plus probably another $200-$250 entry fees ( party of 2) We gave the guide the $$$ for the “fast lane” entry directly, assuming there is a high cost for such inconvenience
