Our time was too short, but the tour was informative and fun, with an excellent guide. - Istanbul deserved far more attention than we were able to give it, both time-wise and physically (we're in our mid-70s and only had 7 or 8 hours). A Christian city sacked by the Christians of the 4th Crusade; the launching point of the failed Islamic invasion of Europe (which was stopped, in part, by Vlad the Impaler - the real-life model for Dracula); and so much more. Well, we were still there, and we were mindful of all that it has meant to world history. A shout-out to our guide, Busra Baltaci, an absolutely wonderful young lady who was not only very knowledgeable, but also very kind and compassionate towards two decrepit old farts who moved at a snail's pace. If you're ever in the area and want a guide, contact her through "Istanbul Private Guided Tour for Layover Flight," in TripAdvisor.

My guide Mev was... - My guide Mev was absolutely amazing she showed me all around the city and told me which attractions were worth paying for and which were not. She knew the history of everything in Istanbul and could tell you about anything you asked about. I highly recommend this tour!

Very good experience with wonderful tourist guide mr. Abdulatif. - Last year, I and my son spent 7 hours in airport because we thought we needed visas. I prepared early and knew that visa was not required for American citizens.

Amazing time during layover in Istanbul - My husband and I had an 8 hour layover in Istanbul and decided to book a tour around the historic sites. The experience was fantastic. The instructions for pickup made transition from the airport very easy. There is a luggage storage office at the airport (only accepts cash), where you can deposit your luggage before the tour starts. The transport vehicles are luxury, limo-style seating vans and were very comfortable. The tour is private, so no large group which allows you to tailor the experience to your wants and needs. We started with a stop at a traditional turkish restaurant where we had an assortment of amazing foods. We then saw the blue mosque, hippodrome, Hagia Sofia, cistern and a walk through the grand bazaar. Most of these sites are within walking distance of each other, so it is easy to see a lot in a short amount of time. Our guide, Latif was very knowledgeable about all of the historic sites and took amazing photos of us throughout the way. We were able to skip through some of the lines as well. The whole experience was amazing and if you have a longer layover in Istanbul, I highly recommend booking this tour!

A taste of Istanbul - We had a significant layover in Istanbul and scheduled a city tour. Mev was our guide and she was simply delightful. She was an absolute wealth of information. Mev did a masterful job of exposing us to the history, culture, and food of this fascinating city. Istanbul is a city with one foot in Asia and the other in Europe. It's a case of east meets west in every sense. Many thanks to Mev for her insights, warmth, and charm!

Istanbul day layover tour - Busra was an excellent, friendly and very well-informed guide for my walking tour. She has extensive knowledge of the area and its history, explaining in detail as we moved from one area to another. She was easily able to adapt to unexpected circumstances, attraction closures, even a snow storm, without any stress. I highly recommend her as a guide.

Relaxing AND Energizing! - When you have an 18 hour layover in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - and you’ve never been, but are a bit afraid that if you take a cab into the city and walk around yourself, you run the risk of: 1. Bad traffic and an unvetted cab driver that may or may not get you back in time, 2. Getting lost and missing your flight - as well as missing out on all the amazing things to see, And/or - 3. Walking and seeing but not learning on your own - anything about the history and culture of this city… Then stop and immediately book a tour with Turkey Layover Tours! We had such a beautiful day, walking all around, both seeing and learning about not just the sights, but about life experiences through conversations with our guide! Dependable, easy to book and a total joy to experience.

Amazing dive into the history and culture of Istanbul - I had a 10 hour layover. So I booked this tour. As a US citizen, I did not need a visa. I checked my carry on backpack at a storage for 8 Euro. it was located at the exit gate 14. From there a shuttle took me to the city. It was about a 45 minute ride. It was before sunrise and I slept the whole time. Then I was greeted by Busra and the tour started. It was a very nice walking tour. We saw Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome. then we took the ferry to cross the Bosphorus. And then after spending some time at the Asian side of the city we crossed Bosphorus and this time got to the Jewish village. I had great talk with Busra. She is very friendly and smart. She has a lot of knowledge about history and philosophy. We had a number of stops to have tea, coffee, Turkish delights. It was an enjoyable 4-5 hours. I will highly recommend this tour for anyone who has a long layover and wants to explore this amazing city.

Very confusing pick up at... - Very confusing pick up at the airport. The SBL is just a taxi like service that then goes into Istanbul to pick up the guide . There was no communication with this process and we were very stressed about this part of the process.
