Great Day Over to Isla Mujeres on a Catamaran - We did the ADULTS ONLY ISLA MUJERES catamaran tour with my wife and 2 adult children aged 18 and 20. We had a great day on the boat, the water of Isla Mujeres was magical. We did a short snorkel that exceeded my expectations give some prior reviews I read. We spent time anchored off beautiful north shore. We then were dropped off to visit the island. We ended up walking back to the north shore and rented a couple of loungers and an umbrella where we spent more time in the beautiful water. The mates on board were terrific and lively. Overall, for us I would opt to spend more time anchored off the north shore on the boat or to see more of the island from the boat (as I have bareboat chartered catamarans myself in the US and BVI). We really enjoyed ourselves. I only wished we could have actually sailed, as this is normally what we look for on or boat days, but given the timeline they are on, i suspected we would be motoring and this was indeed the case.

Excellent private walk in catamaran, good atmosphere, safe and with stops and spectacular views. - You can snorkel and see fish and artwork under the sea.We are taken to island women with enough time to tour the island, know its beaches, walk its streets and tour the island in a golf cart. Absolutely recommended!

A New Friend AND a Great Room - I don't often write reviews but today I definitely need to write one. I reserved a suite for my family. The reservation was a room with a balcony. Sherri, the AMAZING person at the front desk, called me to let me know that she didn't have a room with a balcony but she did have a room that would accommodate my family's needs. I checked in and Sherri greeted me like an old friend! We needed extra bedding and towels and she made it happen! The rooms were nice, bed was comfy, I have a new friend, and a new favorite place to stay! Thank you, RedRoof Plus, for an employee that greets me as a friend, for the great night stay, and for making breakfast so that I didn't have to! Bobbi J. Green River, WY

Wonderful family excursion- well worth it! - This was a wonderful day trip for our family. It was a really easy way to experience something different from all-inclusive resort life- which we were grateful for. The hotel pick up/drop off was great- in a very nice van with a/c. The check in process was efficient- even though they were dealing with tons of people. Everyone was helpful and professional. We loved the snorkeling. Sebastian, our guide, went out of his way to point out and name the different species. It is way too short in my opinion- but we saw lots of fish. We were happy to be in open water- not connected to a yellow rope. It was a fun, easy first snorkel experience for my teens. It is not a snorkel trip though- more like a boat ride with a snorkel and then a swim stop. We loved the boat ride. They do provide drinks and a sandwich for lunch. It was not too crowded and the staff was attentive, but not at all intrusive. Ours was not a party boat- nice and chill- which is what we wanted. We loved our time on Isla Mujeres and wished it were longer. We had time to walk to the other side of the island for a relaxed time on the sand and water- for us this time away from the crowds hanging out with iguanas and watching the waves was a highlight. Then we walked into the more touristy north beach and had a fabulous lunch (not included). We ran out of time and did not get to shop or wander more. Again meeting up and departing was all easy, efficient, and well organized. Tips- bring your own towels if you want beach time. The sun is so strong- we needed lots of reef safe sunscreen (which we had to apply before getting on the boat) and sun protective wear (rash guard, hat, etc.) You will want to tip your crew as they are so great- so bring cash for tips. I don’t know if we could have had a similar experience for less money- but for a full day, well facilitated, multifaceted trip like this we were highly satisfied. Definitely worth it to us! Thank you to our wonderful crew especially Sebastian and Danny.

The boat, the crew, the... - The boat, the crew, the ride on the boat, the drinks, and the snorkeling were all great. The water is so clear and there were a lot of fish to see while snorkeling. We also saw a few turtles and stingrays. The "gourmet" lunch is nothing but a semi saugy chicken or vegetarian sandwich. I wasn't expecting gourmet even though that is what is listed on the ad, but at least provide some chips or some other food item if you want to advertise gourmet lunch. Or just say a chicken sandwich. Be prepared to be stuck Isla Mujeres for the duration of the trip. They dropped us off at the pier and we were on the island for about 2 1/2 hours. There is literally nothing to do on the island except ride around on a golf cart, eat at a low end restaurant, or shop at a typical mexican town street store and buy cheap trinkets. We would have liked to spend more time on the boat and snorkeling. The only other item I didn't like is the peer pressure and haggling at the end of the trip for large tips. The tour is $129 per person. Why is a large tip needed for each person.

Relaxing, but so is my hotel - We were very excited to be on the Catamaran and snorkel and this was our least favorite excursion of the trip. We were first bus dropped off (7am pickup) and the last group to leave the marina due to waiting for late people to arrive for our boat. The first stop was the snorkel the reef which was no reef at all, it was basically the ocean floor. We saw some cool schools of fish, but if you’ve snorkeled in other areas of the world this was nothing. Was basically just open ocean with small corals and grass and flatness. Next was the Isla Island. They dropped us off, said the coolest thing in the island was a taxi ride away because it was extremely far, recommended checking out the beaches and shops and be back in 3 hours. We didn’t want to spend additional money on restaurants (we got a sandwich on the catamaran), and we didn’t want to take a taxi somewhere far, so we sat on the beach for 3 hours - which we could’ve done at the hotel. I was hoping we’d get dropped off, do a small walking tour to talk about the area and history or literally anything. But we just got dropped off and said be back in 3. So it was a long disappointing and boring day.

Too long and too loud - This should be marketed to young people who want to get drunk and party. Our family felt uncomfortable with the drinking, loud music and the very long day we weren’t planning on. 11:00 am to 9:00pm is way too long. We were cold, wet and exhausted after returning home. Not luxury.

Never happened, no contact on cancellation! - Never went on the trip. We booked this on the last day of our vacation. We received an email and message confirmation on a pick up time the day prior. However that morning, we are waiting in the lobby at 7:15am (the pick up time we were told), but after 45 mins, no one came to pick us up nor did we receive any form of contact. An excursion agent in the lobby came up to us and told us that our excursion was not going to happen because of the windy weather impacting travel to Isla Mujeres. We found it strange that she would know that vs. us being simply informed. She said that her direct contact with that company messaged her when she asked that morning that no trips would be departing the port we were supposed to leave from. We tried calling, whatsapp messaging, emailing etc. with the contact we were given to get in touch and confirm whether the activity was still happening and got nothing. THANKFULLY Viator was able to process a refund, which I was scared we were going to get scammed like the other reviews mentioned. It was a disappointing experience as we were really looking forward to this last activity before returning home and since it cancelled on us like this, we were unable to book anything else so last minute or without it seeming sketchy. We ended up going to Isla Mujeres, just on our own ferry and travel plans. My first time dealing with an issue like this but just thankful viator was able to come in clutch!
