The wine and food was good, the company was exceptional - We had a wonderful day wine tasting with Christian (our tour guide) and Felipe (the driver and an owner of the company). We chose this tour specifically because we were looking for more wine tasting and were not interested in extensive tours of wineries and vineyards. We visited four wineries. Christian told us about each winery and we had one glass of wine at three of the wineries and a flight of three wines at one winery. We started the day at the charming house of a local artist, who prepared breakfast for us. It felt really special to be sharing food in someone’s home rather than at a restaurant. She showed us her art and her husband’s panadería, operated out of a small building on the property. Lunch felt similarly special as we visited another home. The family there runs a B&B in the back and we had an excellent meal prepared by the matriarch. It included asparagus soup, lasagna, and preserved fruit from their property. The real highlight of the day was Christian, our guide, who was a wealth of knowledge about Chile and Chilean culture. He wears many hats: video game storyteller, sommelier, winery tour guide (at a winery in addition to this tour). He has also worked making wine and has an extensive interest and knowledge of Chilean history. I felt that we learned so much, not only about Chilean wine and winemaking, but also about the history and culture of Chile. If we are lucky enough to come back to Chile, we will definitely reserve another tour with Maipo Valley Wine Tours!

Worth every cent. Simply amazing. - We spent the day with the most amazing guide, Christian. He was incredibly knowledgeable and everything was precisely coordinated by Felipe ahead of the day. Brunch was lovely and every meal accommodated my gluten issues with no problem! I liked that this was much more of a cultural tour than others we have had, from the home cooked meals to the types of winery tours led by Christian. It was one of our top tours of our ten days in Santiago!!!

Absolutely wonderful tour! - WOW WOW WOW! I had the absolute best time on this tour! Felipe is a wonderful host and such a kind person. My tour guide was Christian and he is the best. Both of them made the wine experience. Absolutely fantastic for me and my coworker. We enjoyed delicious food, wine, conversation. I highly recommend this tour to anyone in the Santiago area to get a fabulous overview of the culture, the landscape, the people and the wine five stars!

Extraordinary wine tour experience! - Carolina was a wonderful tour guide. She has an extensive background in wine making and was able to share her knowledge and expertise in a fun way. We enjoyed her company very much. It was a fantastic tour of multiple wineries whom she knew personally. We highly recommend this tour with Carolina!

Amazing Tour with Maipo Valley Wine Tours. - The driver Felipe and the guide Christian are excellent. Friendly and full of information on the area and the wines. We began with a visit to the art studio of Constanza Mayo. Galeria La Espina del Arte. We had breakfast under the large tree in the yard and chatted away about Chile, art, Maipo, and so much more. We then toured her husband's bakery (yum! we had bread from the bakery for breakfast!), and then her studio of wire sculpture. Next came wineries and one that also presses some of the best olive oil in the world! We loved all of the wineries, but Santa Ema stood out, where we also had lunch. The chef there is amazing and the food with wine was wonderful. We learned all about Carmenere grapes and how Chile unknowingly aided the grape to survive! It was a wonderful day that ended in taking a few bottles away! Thank you Felipe and Christian! This company has a number of wine tours including tours by bike and horseback! Great company to travel with!

Fantastic winery tour - We had a wonderful time with Christian. He was incredible guide, very knowledgeable and clearly enjoys his work. Everything went smoothly and we were able to taste at least six wines if not more. We were introduced to wines we would never have experience without this trip. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Wine Experience! - What a wonderful day spent wine tasting with Carolina! We ended up with a private tour where we started with an amazing breakfast (ancient grain bread from the in house bakery, jams, eggs) along with wine of course! Then we started our visits which included 4 wineries as well as a delicious lunch, in an amazing setting no less. The wines were all great examples of different types of wines from the area (including Carmenier of course.) The day ended at the most beautiful winery, set atop a hill looking over the vineyards. I have to say this one of the best wine tasting days I have had. Special thanks to Carolina who was so knowledgeable, knew everyone in Maipo, and had fun and interesting stories to share. It felt like a great day of tasting wine with our friend who offered to drive us around. This is a great experience and one not to miss!

Great hospitality, good wine, poor vineyard tastings. - My wife and I took this tour in December 2022 on our first day in Chile after arriving via an overnight flight. It was a nice introduction to the country. Communication via text was smooth beforehand. The breakfast and lunch, both hosted at the homes of locals, were a great touch. Christian was a capable guide loaded with information, not just about wine but about the area and its history. Very enjoyable day. One word of warning: This tour does not feature wine tastings per se. Rather, you show up at each of the four vineyards with a single, pre-purchased bottle of wine (or a bottle that your guide purchases in the moment) that you can enjoy on premises. Given the description, I had expected tastings at each vineyard. Instead of being served a variety of pours in a tasting room by someone who works at the vineyard, you drive up to various producers and open a bottle. That could be good or bad depending on your preferences. We also ended up being the only two people on the day's tour, which made for an intimate experience but also meant we were in the back of a sedan rather than the "little wine bus" in the description. Again, could be good or bad depending on your perspective. Overall we had fun. Christian shows you a great time and there are worse ways to spend a day in Santiago. But if you're looking for traditional wine tastings where you really get a sense of each vineyard, this might not be for you.
