Additional Information

You might have had numerous encounters with the Maasai people while on safaris but be assured that these might not be the authentic Maasai culture experience. Even if they were the real Maasais, they might have been putting up a show for you as they receive tourists daily. In this tour, you get to interact with the authentic Maasai’s day-to-day life far away from the safaris and the National parks. This becomes an experience more than a tour as you do the things maasais do daily. You get to appreciate your conventional comfortable life more. From cooking ugali in a manyatta, beadwork, lighting a fire traditionally using sticks and cow dung, milking a goat, dancing, singing and jumping with the Maasai people, you get to do them all.

A day you will not forget! - Words cannot explain how amazing this trip is!!! Spending a day with the massai was a humbling and incredibly grounding experience. Visiting with only a couple of other people contributed to the intimacy of the visit and made this day truly memorable. We we fortunate enough to visit on a Friday, which was one of the market days and got to experience the sights and smell of the massai trading their livestock and wares. Ack at the village we were warmly welcomed and experienced everyday life as a massai. Simon, our tour guide, was the most amazing, knowledgeable guide and I highly recommend him. He made the day feel like we were out visiting friends, rather than a commercial tourist experience. Thank you for your kind hospitality Simon- you are excellent at what you do!

An Unforgettable Day - I highly recommend this tour. My guide Dennis was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. I was able to learn how to make a piece of jewelry with the women, milk and herd the sheep, watch the men make a fire, prepare a meal of ugali and dance with the tribe. It was amazing to learn about and experience a bit of their culture. I would suggest covering your head with a hat or scarf before entering the manyatta (hut) to prevent the smell of smoke from getting in your hair.

Excellent experience! - Fantastic Maasai village experience. You can tell the company, Motherland Diaries, spent a lot of time coordinating with the village to ensure an awesome experience. The villagers were enthusiastic in their welcome and it was truly a hands on experience. Simon, the guide, was amazing. I was truly impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm. His input and preparation itself ensured a great time was had. I cannot say enough good things about Simon. Kudos for a job well done I was very impressed with the tour operator, Motherland Diaries. I was so impressed I did a follow on Nairobi City Walking Tour with them on a different day - it, as expected, was a fantastic as well
