Balneario Cachoeira do Castanho - We start around 8am from your hotel and drive west from Manaus for about one hour to the Castanho lake where our host will take you by motorized canoe (no cover typical slow amazonian transport) heading to the jungle where we’ll start a 2-3 hours hike to learn about Amazonian fauna and flora, like medicinal plants, jungle survival etc.
We can’t promise you’ll see animals because our jungle is very dense and most of our creatures are small, but we will try to show you as much as Mother Nature allows us.
(for this part of the tour you must wear long pants, closed toed shoes. Bring also a rain coat and insect repellent much needed during our wet season)

Magic, a feeling of being surrounded by nature, far from everything. - Magic! Sail on the Amazon in a small boat, through the flooded forest, in narrow passages, hiking with a local guide who teaches you the different species, swimming in the Amazon, and with dolphins. Fishing, and trying to catch piranhas, the locals are much stronger at this game, and see the incredible teeth, sunset, discovering the caimans at night.. incredible we feel alone in the world, very small at the heel of nature.... incredible!!

- This one day event was definitely worth it, the local guides spoke English and were very knowledgeable about the jungle, explaining the plants and animals we encountered during the hike, serving a very tasty buffet-style lunch with fish from the river and cold beverages from the bar. A lot of activities were packed into this one-day trip and I can highly recommend this family-owned trip organizer. They even came to your hotel to pick you up and drop you off late in the evening. Several travelers stayed the night at their lodge in the forest, doing all the activities like visiting the dark and brown water of the Rio Negro merging with the Rio Solimões, feeding and swimming with the pink dolphins, etc. Afterwards, go to have dinner at the excellent Tambaqui de Banda restaurant near the Teatro Amazonas. Since most locals don't speak English, bring your iPhone with a translation app. this is a trip to remember.

Excellent - Really nice experience. Both our guides were excellent and trustworthy. You will see different animals and the sunset part is beautiful! I felt safe at all times. It is very hot so make sure you wear long pants/sleeves that are light.

Fantastic Amazing Fun Adventure! - The whole day was great! The tour guides were very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The experience felt authentic. We all loved it! Lunch at the floating house was delicious and then we had a nice break to swim in the Rio Negro on our own or sun bathe or rest. My two sons were swimming and a wild pink dolphin came up and wanted to play! It was incredible! And then at the swimming with the dolphins area we got very close to several very friendly dolphins for nice photo ops. Fishing for piranhas was so fun my sons and husband all caught some! We saw monkeys, bullet ants, tarantulas and toucans. Sunset cruise was Beautiful. Highly recommend!

Long Day (Too Long) - Rough day for both me and my daughter. This excursion can easily be trimmed down by, at least, several hours. There was a lot of time spent sitting around after lunch, for example. On the return, we met the owner of the tour company, and he drove us back to our hotel in an air conditioned car. I would’ve paid more to take this car ride to the furthest point possible vs sitting out in the open sun for an additional hour or hour and a half. Now that I have done this tour, I can say I would never do it again. The more difficult question is whether I would do it if I knew what I know now. I wish there was a half-day excursion just to see the dolphins. That experience is the only true must see.
