Highlights
  • Luss - A 45-minute drive from Greenock along the River Clyde and over the Erskine Bridge takes us into the Highlands and our first stop, the village of Luss on the western shore of Loch Lomond. Walk past the sandstone and slate cottages to the pier with its wonderful views across to Ben Lomond and expansive loch views. Luss Graveyard has graves dating back to 600AD/700AD, and there is also a Viking grave from the 11th century complete with a Viking Hogback Stone.
  • Rest and be Thankful - A 27-minute drive from Luss, passing through Arrochar, at the head of the fjord of Loch Long, we drive through high and steep-sided Glens, to arrive at The Rest and Be Thankful. For centuries the pass has been affectionately known as The Rest and Be Thankful, or simply The Rest. The climb out of Glen Croe is so long and steep that it was traditional for travelers and drovers to rest at the top and be thankful for having made the highest point. A perfect place for a group photo.
  • Inveraray - Arriving in Inveraray, just 23 minutes after leaving The Rest and Be Thankful and driving through more impressive Glens, it’s time to enjoy this picture-perfect village at the top of Loch Fyne. There are some very good shops for souvenirs and Scottish products in the village. There is also the beautiful Inveraray Castle and Gardens. Entry to the castle and gardens requires an entry fee (closed Tue & Wed). There are a few take-away and sit-in cafes; however, guests love the wonderful Loch Fyne Oyster Bar just 12 minutes drive from Inveraray, with a deli and a take-away with a sitting area outside. You can adjust your time in Inveraray if you want to visit. If you wish to visit the Castle, there is an entry fee. Entry to Inveraray Castle and Gardens, Adult £14.50, Entry to just the Castle Gardens £7.00
  • Kilchurn Castle - A 20-minute scenic drive from Inveraray brings us to Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle. Built around 1450, this long-abandoned castle is still very impressive, sitting at the top of Loch Awe ringed by mountains both close by and distant, making for a very memorable visit. After our visit, we head back to Inveraray.
  • Kirn - Leaving Inveraray and The Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, we have a very scenic 65-minute journey along the east shore of Loch Fyne then through the heart of the Cowal Peninsula with steep, thickly wooded Glens to Kirn at the entrance to the Holy Loch and onto an open ferry. We cross the Firth of Clyde with spectacular views during the 15-minute voyage to Gourock. Leaving the Highlands, we are back in the Lowlands. Your cruise ship is visible during the crossing.
  • Peel Ports Greenock Ocean Terminal - From the Ferry Boat, it’s a 10-minute journey to your Cruise Ship at Greenock Ocean Terminal. Arriving at the Terminal is the conclusion of the tour.

One fabulous day - The driver Mike was absolutely terrific in every sense of the word. He met us promptly and with a sign with our name on it, which made the connection very easy… His vehicle was large and comfortable and spotlessly clean… He took us to see so many amazing and memorable sites… Many times he asked us if we were comfortable and he wanted to know what we wanted to see so that he would make the experience Taylor to our likes… he was a gentleman who was bright and courteous, and I would highly recommend using him to anybody seeking a tour of Scotland

Magnificent Day with Mike - Our day touring the beautiful Scottish Highlands with Mike was one of the highlights of our entire British Isles trip!! Mike loves his country and is eager to share it with others. He met us right at the port and was very conscientious about getting us back to our cruise ship with plenty time to spare. From the moment we met him, we knew it would be a great day. He took us to Luss and Loch Lomond and on through the gorgeous countryside to Rest and Be Thankful. My absolute favorite was our time at Inveraray Castle! Touring the castle is a must! It is the current home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyle and also where an episode of Downton Abbey was filmed. We saw Kilchurn Castle, hairy coos, and by request, Mike took us to St. Conan’s Kirk. After a fabulous fish and chips lunch at Oyster House, we headed back to the ship full of great memories of the Glasgow area of Scotland. We were a group of 6 and Mike’s van was clean, comfortable and perfect for sightseeing. Thanks, Mike! You made our day very special. Recommend this tour highly!!!

Incredible Day! - What an incredible day! Our tour guide, Mike, was the BEST! He was very knowledgeable, and wanted to do whatever made us happy! He was a real joy to spend the day with! The scenery was amazing and with Mike there to educate us on what we were seeing, that was the icing on the cake! Loch Lomond and the Inveraray Castle were just amazing! We couldn’t have asked for a better day! We worth the expense!

Lean back and be grateful! - We started the ride with big bus tours from greenock harbor. The bus stood in front of the Main building. The bus was always on time. The time schedule is quite full but we liked it a lot because we wanted to see so much as possible. We drove with Lee and Lee made our day so perfect. The whole 9 hours he gave us background information with much of passion and know how. He lives children and was very kind and friendly. The stops are a pleasure and we are very thankful that we could join this tour. He speaks perfect English without accent - that helped all of us. Our parents don’t speak German, we have given them an in ear translator from Time kettle -> it was worth it. The time kettle understood every word and translated it almost simoultaniously to German and all of us had a really great time with him.
