Dražen Petrović was a legendary Croatian basketball player and a prominent sports figure from Šibenik. The driver will share stories about Dražen’s illustrious career with the local club and the national team.
- Barone Fortress - The Barone Fortress (also known as Šubićevac Fortress; Croatian: Tvrđava Barone or Tvrđava Šubićevac) was built in 1646 on Vidakuša hill overlooking the city. Revitalized and reopened in January 2016, it won the national Cultural Attraction of the Year Award in 2016, similar to the renovated St. Michael’s Fortress in 2014. Visitors can enjoy a digital tour of Šibenik’s history through an augmented reality platform and other multimedia features.
- St. John’s Fortress - St. John’s Fortress (also known as Tanaja; Croatian: Tvrđava sv. Ivana) is situated on a hill north of the city’s historic center. Named after a medieval church dedicated to St. John the Baptist, which existed since at least 1444, the fortress, along with Barone Fortress, was built during the Cretan War and successfully defended against Ottoman attacks in 1646 and 1647.
The local name, Tanaja, comes from one of its structures, a plier-shaped outwork, or tenaille (Italian: tenaglia).
- St. Michael’s Fortress - St. Michael’s Fortress is a medieval stronghold perched on a steep hill above the town’s historic center. Named after the oldest church in Šibenik, St. Michael’s Church, which was within its walls, one theory suggests the church was constructed during the initial Christianization of Croatia, from the late 8th to early 9th century.
Since reopening in July 2014, the fortress’s open-air summer stage has become a vital part of Šibenik’s cultural scene. It is now the second most-visited heritage site in Šibenik and the second most-visited fortification in Croatia.
- Šibenik - The new Šibenik main square, featuring an archaeological park and a garage/logistic center beneath, is designed as an integrated urban, social, and infrastructural space. It fosters an open dialogue between the medieval, modern, and contemporary city, creating a vibrant community with immense potential.
- Riva - Šibenik’s riva is a central social hub for locals, whether they wish to meet someone, take a stroll, or enjoy a drink or ice cream at the many bars along the way. The final stop is in front of the Cathedral, offering a glimpse into everyday life in this charming town.
- The Cathedral of St James in Sibenik - The Cathedral of St. James is a remarkable architectural masterpiece in Croatia, recognized on the UNESCO Cultural World Heritage List since 2000.
Constructed over more than a century during the 15th and 16th centuries, it is unique for being entirely built of stone. The cathedral’s most notable builders were Juraj Dalmatinac (Georgius Mathei Dalmaticus) and Nikola Firentinac (Niccolò di Giovanni Fiorentino). Initially Gothic, it was later completed in the Renaissance style.
The final stop at the cathedral is ideal for a short walk through the pedestrian zone, allowing exploration of Šibenik’s rich history and a taste of the local lifestyle today.
