Additional Information

The GeoSea sea baths source their water from two boreholes, one situated by the cheese barrel and the other near Húsavík port. There isn’t any requirement for cleaning products or tools as the unbroken circulation of water from the boreholes, through the pools, over their rims and into the ocean ensures water cleanliness in compliance with health standards.

GeoSea sea baths offer a unique opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature. Leveraging the geothermal heat from beneath the Earth’s surface, the sea water in the baths is warm and soothing. The water, rich with minerals, will soften your skin. While you experience the restorative effects of the warm sea, you can savor the view of the western mountain range, Skjálfandi Bay below the sea cliffs, and the sight of the Arctic Circle far in the distance.

Perfect Ending To A Busy Day - This thermal sea bath was our family’s favorite. We went late in the evening after whale watching earlier in the day. GeoSea seemed a little smaller than some of the other baths, but this only added to the charm. The views were spectacular and the place was very clean. Perfect place to relax. It also seemed to be frequented by many locals which only added to the experience. If you don’t bring a towel, you can rent one. We did rent the robes but found that to be unnecessary. While the water was warm, the temps outside were cold, so a hat or ear covering really made it more enjoyable for us.

Enjoyable - Enjoyed relaxing in the thermal baths, a short walk up the hill from the town. Also had steam room if that's your thing. Some secure storage and a nice shower afterwards. A little expensive but definitely a must do if in the area.

Bliss - This was a very relaxing thermal pool to visit. The ability to do the cold plunge into the surrounding water/ lake added to the experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. At the time I went - late afternoon in summer it was not too busy…peaceful. Highly worth the visit.

Not to be missed for a moment of relaxation with spectacular views - Super recommended spa. Clean and nice organized (deliver at the entrance a bracelet with which you can access all services). There are only two baths but with spectacular views. During the summer they remain open until midnight, I recommend making the evening entrance to admire the midnight / sunset sun. In addition, they cost slightly less than other spas in Iceland. Absolutely not to be missed for a moment of relaxation!

If interested in Husavik, come to this! - We did this as part of a tour from Akureyri (via Godafoss waterfall). Amazing!! Booked VERY last minute with a tour guide, 5 of us went and it is superb. Beautiful views, tranquil, not so many people there and a swim-up bar. It has the best view (by far) between the major lagoons (Sky, Forest, Secret) and you can get lost staring out into the area the whales come into shore (you won't see them but it's fun to try!). Must-do if staying in Akureyri/Husavik.

Left with a warm feeling to the core - Greeted by friendly staff. Their policy of drying off before going to changing area is a good one and keeps the changing area cooler. It’s a short walk to the pools. The view is awesome seeing the snow covered mountains. You must bring your own towel and robe. Robe not a necessity. What a unique feeling to be in 38 F, and not be cold while in the pools.

Very nice location - The location of the bath is phenomenal, everything else is well organised. There are baths of different temperatures. The price is comparable to other baths. Because it is not very sheltered, it can be very cold above water.

Nice view to warm up at - Great view- but you rented towels which felt like nickel and diming people, were prissy about where take your shoes off- beyond that- gorgeous view to look at while you soak and relatively affordable

Check the weather conditions before going - This was the geothermal spa we were most looking forward to attending due to its location and view. I imagine on a calm sunny day, you could bath in the warm pools and watch whales frolicking in the water to have a peaceful, relaxing day. On the day we attended, however, the winds were strong so that the water was being whipped from one pool to the next, slapping you so hard that you couldn’t stand or even sit unless you were in the small tub by the bar window. Needless to say, our stay was not enjoyable. The facility is designed in such a way that I imagine they have a lot of days with the same poor conditions we experienced. I think it would have been appropriate to warn people of the bad conditions before they paid to enter, or offered a lower rate. Otherwise, the facility was clean and beautiful, but I would certainly check conditions before going.

Shut early and didn't communicate - We booked here on New Year's Day hoping to see the 3-4 hours in the spa. We arrived at 1.30 and the woman on reception had a less than welcoming attitude from the start. But the biggest issue was that it closed at 4pm that day and that information was not on the website when we booked. Or even told to us when we arrived. When we questioned this the surly girl on reception got even more unhelpful. She started saying our booking was only for an hour (on the website it says that you can stay as long as you want) and that she had no obligation to tell us it closed early. It feels very dishonest to not make that clear when people book. Another couple arrived at 2.30! The place itself has a great view but I would say is that it is pretty small, it would have been unbearable if it was busy. There is really only one series of connected pools and a steam room. Absolutely not worth the money TBH and the poor service, attitude and lack of communication of opening times sullied the experience even further.
