Situated in central Dalmatia, it is 90 km from Split. The park encompasses the area along the Krka River, which originates at the base of Dinara, Croatia’s highest mountain, and traverses a 75 km long canyon. This natural karst phenomenon is best visited in spring and summer when it is at its most magnificent, and visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip in its clear waters. The Jaruga hydroelectric power plant, located below the Skradinski Buk (the largest waterfall), is the second oldest hydroelectric power plant in the world and the first in Europe, built in 1895, just three days after the world’s first hydroelectric plant at Niagara Falls.
- Skradin - Skradin is a small town in Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia. It lies near the Krka River and at the entrance to Krka National Park, 17 km from Šibenik and 100 km from Split.
