The journey begins with a drive through the White Mountains to the starting point at the Xyloskalo staircase, which zigzags approximately 200 meters down into the gorge. Along the way, you’ll pass tiny chapels, walk between towering ravine walls, and possibly spot some of Crete’s wild ‘kri-kri’ goats. The highlight is the ‘Iron Gates’ – the narrowest part of the gorge, where the 300-meter-high walls are just 3 meters apart.
At the end of the trek, you’ll arrive at the seaside village of Agia Roumeli. If time permits, you can enjoy a swim or relax in a taverna. Once everyone is ready, a boat ride along the coast will take you to your waiting coach. Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.
